We simply use the measurements, 90*200cm, 180*210cm etc. Never heard of anyone using names to describe bed sizes. More on reddit.com

I don't think you should downsize. Queen size is the perfect size for a single (adult) person. If you do bring someone home in the future a queen would be best. I'm single and I have a queen size mattress/ bed. If I had a huge room, I'd get a California King Size because I like to hog the entire bed, and I'd purchase one even if I was single.Don't compromise on your sleep. More on reddit.com
