I’m moving and decided to splurge on linen sheets. Budget is around $500 for a queen bed in the Northeast US. I’m honestly not the pickiest when it comes to sheets and don’t have any complaints with my mid-budget cotton ones. I just LOVE the look of linen, the texture and the depth of color that it can achieve. And I admit I’m intrigued by how much people on this subreddit seem to love their fancy bedding. I specifically covet the Bed Threads Olive, Sage, and Mineral Bundle, and I appreciate that they allow you to mix and match for a mismatched bedding look, which I’m definitely going for. But the reviews are so negative on here, that I can’t imagine it’s actually worth the money. If anyone has alternatives to this specific look, or has bed threads horror stories to dissuade me, I would appreciate.
I recently bought a bedding set from this company after researching the benefits of the linen sheet and decided to invest in one. This company offers relatively reasonable prices($275 for a duvet cover, fitted sheet & set of pillowcases) on their linen products with a good amount of color choices so I went with it. They advertise their linen products to be "buttery soft" with basically high-quality everything. I knew linen is not soft compared to cotton or satin but thought after a few washes it would be at least a bit softer. Not true for my case. I followed instructions on how to soften linen bedding religiously and after 3 washes, it seems to be getting rougher. I cannot sleep on it because it feels I'm rubbing my skin against sandpaper. The quality of their product besides the roughness of the linen is also questionable. I know piling is normal in the beginning and so is attracting dust for linen, but the stitches and threads are coming off crazy even being washed in the gentlest cycle. The stitches on the duvet cover are now shrinking from coming off, jeopardizing the shape and structure of the cover. I wouldn't be THIS puzzled with my purchase if the linen wasn't so rough to the point that I can no longer use it.
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the particular color dye(I got deep plum) or that I just made a shitty choice in getting linen bedding from this company. Has anyone experienced the same thing?
I'm obviously a major noob and would appreciate any inputs on how linen bedding works for everyone else.

I LOVE the color combinations you can get with Bed Threads, but I keep hearing people say they wash them and they rip or come apart. Looking for a brand that might be tougher/last longer that offers some of the same beautiful colors. Thoughts?!
Hello all. I bought BedThreads linen sheets and have been using them for about a year. I’ve washed and dried them countless times in different ways. Machine, hand wash, hang dry. No matter what, they still shed like crazy! It’s only right along the bottom where my feet are/the sheets get tucked in, nowhere else. Did I just buy poor quality linen? It’s incredibly comfortable but everything says they only shed in the very beginning. Thanks!
Hello!
I was going to buy a bedding set from Bed Threads in the color rosewater, but am backing off after seeing a lot of negative reviews re: shedding, holes developing, general quality issues with that brand. But I love that color :') Does anyone have recommendations for alternatives - linen or not? I currently have a set from Piglet in Bed in Blush Pink, but it's a little too pink for what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a very faint, cool pink - not a muave-y or beige-y pink.
Hey folks! I treated myself to a beautiful set of sheets from bed threads about two months ago. They kept popping up on my instagram and the reviews were solid, so I went for it.
I’ve never left a product review in my life–so for me to go on a site and actually take time to write a review should speak for itself.
My one star review was on the site for maybe two minutes before it disappeared. I then realized all the reviews for the set were five stars, and there were only nine. I obviously can’t confirm this, but I’m led to believe the company removes negative reviews from their consumer site (which is perfectly legal). An agent over chat told me my review was simply going to take awhile to publish, but I had already seen it up.
Anyway, I really don’t recommend bed threads. I wanted to love them, but they’re scratchy and uncomfortable even after breaking the linen in. They wrinkle like nothing I’ve ever seen no matter how I wash and treat them. And they look more muted than the photos.
Real bummer, but don’t waste your money–they’re expensive!
I don't usually leave critical reviews but my Bed Threads 100% French flax linen bedding is one of my most regrettable purchases. It's been nearly 3 years since I splurged, and thus it's too late to leave a review on their website (or, at the very least, I can't find a way to leave a review at this point).
For such expensive bedding, I thought that it would last me much longer than 2 1/2 years. I machine wash all of my bedding on gentle cold cycles, and hang dry everything. Despite this, the bedding thinned to the point of shredding in the places that my partner and I sleep. We don't have any pets that sleep in the bed with us so I can't comprehend how regular human use led to that kind of wear over such a short span of time. I absolutely would not waste my money on their bedding again.
Some photos for context.
Looking for a new linen bedding set with this kind of light shade of orange or purples. Any set I google has terrible reviews here on reddit. Budget of £500 max but ideally a lot lower Searching for companies that ship to the UK.
I got French flax linen fitted sheets, duvet insert, and pillow cases last year (Dec 2023). I live in the US so our queen size is typically 90x90 for duvet/ fitted sheets.
I found the sheets and duvet insert to be too big still. I solved the fitted sheet problem by adding clips under the bed that attach to each side of the sheet and pull it tight. But the duvet I had to get my sewing machine out and “hem” the top and side lengths down by 5 INCHES.
When doing that, I discovered quite a lot of extra thread and unfinished edges along the seams.
All of this to say, I really like these sheets. They just required some personal finessing.
Did you have to adjust things when you got your sheets?
i’ve been looking for bed threads alternatives because i can’t afford them, i did find a good alt but they don’t really have close to the same colors that i’d like. i like the 100% cotton linen like texture that keep me warm but don’t make me sweat cause i’m a hot sleeper, and i love the color options that bed threads has. my budget is roughly 50-70 dollars for duvet and sheet set, so 100-140 dollars for both together. Thanks!
I would love to get some linen sheets, Bed threads looks cool but slightly put off by the thousands of dodgy 5 star reviews they have and the cheap price point compared to other companies. Sheet society looks decent as well. Thank you!
Hi! I just ordered my first set of sheets from bed threads and followed the directions for first wash: cold water, on delicate cycle, mild detergent and my sheets came out with lots of pilling and fuzz. I’ve read online sometimes this can happen, but it seems excessive and should not be happening for the price. Anyone else experience/does it get better over time?
I scraped comments from 70+ posts where people asked “what’s the best bed sheets?” (plus some big home and bedroom rec threads), then ran the whole pile of thousands of comments through an LLM pipeline to see which brands consistently get love vs. mixed reviews. Goal wasn’t just “most mentioned,” but also “most positively talked about.”
Method in a nutshell:
– Scraped 70+ “best bed sheets?” threads & home gear megathreads
– Ran GPT-5 + Gemini 2.5 to extract product names and classify sentiment
– Scoring = ~70% positive vs. negative differential + ~30% positive/total ratio
– Merged name variants so duplicates didn’t inflate scores (e.g., “Brooklinen Luxe Core,” “Brooklinen Sheets” → one entry) + some other nerdy sentiment tweaks that I won't bore you with
Would love your feedback! any sheet brands you think are overrated, underrated, or surprisingly good for the price?
Seriously, I’ve bought super expensive tech gear and had far less of a hassle figuring out what’s good and right for me in about 1/4 of the time I’ve spent in the last week researching on what sheet isn’t going to kidnap my family and hold me ransom.
Some of the pitfalls:
Everybody on here from r/BuyItForLife points out material quality is always getting worse all the time, all the good sheets are gone, mere imposters remain
On the off chance a sheet is still of GOOD quality, good luck buddy that’ll be $400 thank you very much and everybody pats you on the back for making such a purchase because you spent 1/3 of your life on these sheets!
It is so hard to find any consistency between the mix of Reddit, YouTube, and website blog suggestions. On here, Brooklinen is the devil. Elsewhere, they’re the Big Sleep Bloggers Savior.
I’m tired boss. I just want comfortable sheets that cost for $100 or less that don’t feel like a scam. I’ve settled on cotton being my fabric of choice after buying a $25 set of Microfiber sheets and hating them and they’re clingy feel. Shoutout to all the $20 brands on Amazon selling 1,800 thread Egyptian cotton sheets. I’m also a NASA Engineer.
If anybody knows any stores where you could actually FEEL different kinds of sheets (cotton, linen, silk) that’d be appreciated at least. Venting over.
Looking for a more affordable version of their set in turmeric. I have never found a set in this color but I have a hard time justifying nearly $500 for bedding.
