I just purchased a really nice set of nightstands and a dresser. There are no tracks for the drawers. It's just wood on wood. I was considering applying a little bit of beeswax or something to help make the drawers smoother. Any recommendations on technique or materials/ a particular brand of beeswax that I should use?
I have some leather beeswax from Walmart. Will that work?

I made a basic desk out of common lumber.
For the drawers, I didn't use ball-bearing slides in order to save money. So they are just wood sliding on wood. It's ok, but I'd like the action to be smoother.
What can I use to lubricate the wood-on-wood mechanism? I vaguely heard that wax might be an option but am open to hearing of a better product.
Ideally, it'd be cheap, easy to apply, and be long-lasting.
My kitchen has original cabinetry from early 1900s including drawers that have no tracks or wheels. They simply slide in grooves of wood.
They stick and are often hard to open / close properly and want to find a way to lubricate them somehow. I’ve read about paraffin wax but are there other options?
