Is BEHR Marquee and Ultra paint really that bad compared to Sherman Williams? Please share your experiences.
I've been told by most people to go with Sherman Williams or Benjamin Moore but here in Hawaii a gallon of white costs over $100.
I've heard some painters say that Behr has really stepped up their game on their higher end paints but was wondering what Reddit has to say.
This is for exterior painting mostly. CMU wall, wood fence, wood posts, and utility room which is detached from the main house and like a shed (should I use interior paint for this)?

A lot of complaints about how it's too thick/gooey and it dries too fast so it peels off if you brush or roll over it more than a couple of times. That although they market it as a one coat paint, it ends up requiring two coats so why bother since it's difficult to use? Is this meant to be used by only pros who are skilled at getting good even coverage in minimum amount of strokes? It's really hot here so paint will dry even faster.
My only option if I'm going with Behr is their Ultra line which is a step down from Marquee. What are you experiences with Behr Ultra and Marquee paints?
I'm having my house painted and the contractor told me they really only use Sherwin Williams, however they are willing to work with any paint brand I want. Okay cool. I go to the local retailer to look at colors and holy hell the prices are almost 20 dollars more expensive than Behr paint!
I want my house to look nice, but knowing I would spend over $600 on paint makes me physically nauseous.
$35/gal for a decent quality Behr or $58-70/gal for Sherwin Williams. I did see one kind in there that was around the same price as the Behr I wanted, but everything else was higher.

Here is my little anecdote. I painted my house with Behr. I bought one of the more expensive tiers of their paint. The paint took 3-4 coats. I thought it was a bit runny.
I told my coworker. She did the Sherwin Williams, painter came out and did 2 coats and that was that.
Of course, better paints go on better. That's the extent of my experience with exterior painting. I was left the impression that SW goes on a lot easier, fewer coats, and thus potentially saving money on labor.
And to prove my point, SW does go on thicker. It's value vs money, right? If you only paint your house every 15 years...what is $600. And the contractor goes with SW, highly likely its easier to work with. Saving labor.

We live very close to HD so would like to stick with something that they sell. I've been doing research on premium plus and it seems to be very polarizing paint. Some people say it's great and it's the only paint they use and other people say it's absolute dogshit.
Just trying to get an idea of what people here think about it and if there's maybe something else they'd recommend from HD.
Edit: Seems like most people recommend going with Sherman Williams or Moore instead. I'll have to see what else is available nearby.
