Behr paint color codes

So here is my brief rundown from selling Behr paint for a while... PPU14-19 only indicates that it is a "Premium Plus Ultra" color, 14-19 is the code for the color family and specific color, so most 14's are blues. One fun fact we were always told about the Ultra colors is that they are formulated to coordinate regardless of what two colors you chose. Sure, some look much better together than others, but they wont "clash" like an extremely bright color and a muted color typically would. So I agree with u/NinjaCoder on looking at the color palettes online, but if you stop in a store you can ask to take a look at the Premium Plus Ultra book and flip through the greens to find something you like. Unfortunately even with the tint formula you won't be able to discern enough to find a complimentary green, even a few 384ths of an ounce of one tint can make a difference in the color. Maybe I’m barking up the wrong tree, but I am trying to understand Behr paint colors and how they relate. I have a blue on my walls that I love, English Channel PPU14-19. Does that “PPU14-19” indicate any information about that paint color’s properties?

I ask because I would like to paint another room in my home in a green that, if this makes any sense, has qualities like that blue but in green.

If I’m not asking the right questions can anyone educate me?

I don't think so... but if you go to the Behr website, they have a list of "color palattes" that include that color, and also "similar colors" that include a few greens.

If I go to Home Depot and ask for a Benjamin Moore color in Behr paint for example, can they make it for me?

(And please no, just buy the Benjamin Moore paint. I'm painting on a budget and exploring my options)

I would wait for a sale at Sherwin or set up an account there (or similar paint store). The pricing should be comparable or even better. Behr is considered really poor quality by most of us pros.

I have been building and restoring homes for 30 years. Always use Benjaman Moore Paint. Great coverage, cleans very well, and never problems with blending or touch up.

Son gave me a couple of gallons of Behr white ceiling paint... thought I would use on a ceiling in a room above the garage that i'm remodeling. Never again. The stuff is blotchy, dripped and did not overlap or cover good at all. Two coats of flat white.

The $50 a gallon is worth it.

I’ve never had any of those issues with Behr paint, but I always use it shortly after I buy it.

Do you know if it had been opened, and do you know how long your son had it sitting around before it was given to you?
