I'm newer to woodworking and I've decided I need a belt sander, but I'm not sure which would be better. Hoping to hear the ups and downs of each and which one you prefer thanks.
So I'm trying to make a small wooden puzzle toy thing where the pieces are quite small (2-3 inches). I figured the easiest way to do the sanding would be to use a bench sander. So I borrowed one from a friend (Looks like this
So I'm just holding every side of the pieces up to the belt and sliding it across for the areas larger than the belt width. It works fairly well, except for the fact that I'm having a hard time keeping everything leveled and evenly sanded. Like I'm finding that it can easily end up slanted because one area got sanded down more than another. So I'm wondering if there are any good techniques to follow to help with this issue. I'm fairly new to all this!
