Overcooked 1 & 2 (one of the best couch co-op party games ever made) Gang Beasts (mindless fun) Trackmania Turbo (it has a double driver hot seat mode, two players controlling one car, tons of fun) Brawlhalla (smash bros clone, it's free btw) Brawlout (smash bros rip-off, not very bad) Rocket League (football/soccer but with cars, also free) Disc Jam (tennis but with discs) Move or Die (many fast paced minigames, lots of fun) Bossgard (unique concept, you can play as the boss against your friends or you and your friends against an AI boss, many different combinations... really awesome concept but the game didn't get much attention, the devs are great btw) Headsnatchers (party type minigames) Cake Bash (cutest game ever on PS4) Party Panic (name checks out) Marooners (party type minigames) Action Henk (racing but with action figures on their butt) Streets of Rage 4 (if you're familiar with the series, a Sega classic) Castle Crashers (cute adventure couch co-op) Crash Team Racing (kart racing but requires some skill beware of that) Cel Damage HD (a remaster of the stupid funny cars combat game) Grip (2-4 players split-screen racing and battle arena cars type game) SkyScrappers (same as SpeedRunners but you climb up and can hit your rivals) Tricky Towers (Tetris like stupid fun) Hyper Jam (beat'em up party game) Laser League (avoid the opposite color lasers and try to beat your opponent doing the same) Guns, Gore and Cannoli 1 & 2 (run and gun couch co-op) Borderlands (2-4 players split-screen for the first and second game, the newest addition, Borderlands 3 has only 2 players split-screen, couch co-op fps) Serious Sam Collection (a remaster of the first person shooter that has 4 players split-screen, it's a collection of 3 games) Almost all Call of Duty games (specially zombie modes) CoD Black Ops 3/4, WWII... Helldivers (not much of a party type game but it's fun as hell (pun intended)) Alienation, and Magicka (same as Helldivers but more forgiving) 2K Battlegrounds (WWE arcade game) 2K Playgrounds 2 (NBA arcade game) as well as other official sim WWE and NBA games if you're a fan of them, all have 2-4 players enabled, same as FIFA games. Please note that all the above titles are 2-4 players shared or split-screen. The following titles are only 2-player: All fighting games (Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Soul Calibur, King of Fighters, except Dead or Alive 5 it has 2v2 tag team matches). Darksiders Genesis (action-adventure twin stick shooter game with nice fighting and puzzles not exactly a party game). Dead Nation (couch co-op zombie fighting twin stick shooter). A Way Out and It Takes Two, 2 games made by EA of the best couch co-op experiences, specially the newest one, It Takes Two. r/localmultiplayergames on Reddit: 4 player split screen games on PS4?
May 7, 2021 -

I'm having a going away party on the 16th and am looking for some good 4 player party type games or even 2 player with fast matches (like nidhogg) so far I've been thinking about getting The Escapist 2, Nidhogg 2, Stickbold, Override Mech City Brawl, and SpeedRunners. I'm sure thats more than enough games but any suggestions for games I might not know about would be greatly appreciated

Tricky Towers is definitely a blast. Everyone knows Tetris and this just makes it more chaotic. I had 3 family members over last weekend and they understood the concept right away, and after 30 minutes they were already challenging for the trophy. Ended up playing for 3 hours straight.

Rocket League is a multiplayer-focused, third-person, vehicular sports game a lot like soccer. Players try to score goals by rocketing their car into a comically-oversized ball, knocking it into the opposing team's goal, while preventing the opposing team from doing the same thing.Great for quick play sessions: Each game has a time limit of 5 minutes, paused only when a team scores to reset the ball to mid-field. By keeping each session short, the game works well for people wanting to play a quick game without getting drawn into a long play session. | Clear objectives keeps the focus on the gameplay: Rocket League is soccer at its simplest: get the ball in the net. It's a fast, easy-to-understand game, and just about anyone can get the hang of it after just a few rounds of play. | Moon-like physics give a delightful sense of exaggerated abilities: The physics in this game are slightly warped, making it seem like you're on the moon. This means that cars fly around if they collide or go up ramps, giving it a feel of superpowers. | Clean and Clear visuals make for a very cool arcade-like experience: Rocket League's fantastic art style makes gameplay feel really clear and easy to understand at all times. The bright colors and crisp visuals also gives it that arcadey "pop" that makes it feel a lot more exciting than other car games. | Easy to learn | Splitscreen online play: Even with three other players, you don't have to play only against bots. 4 local players VS 4 online players (or whatever team layout you may choose) is possible and improves the experience. | Simple controls: Whether you use a controller or keyboard and mouse, the controls are fairly simple. You are driving a car pushing a ball around, with forward, reverse, boost, power-slide and jump as your only real abilities to learn. The difficulty comes in learning to use them at the right times. Doing this will allow you to perform in-air and off the wall maneuvers, making for breath-taking and unexpected plays. | Customization of cars is creative and fun: There are quite a few cars to choose from, including DLC cars such as the Delorean from Back to the Future. After picking a car, you can customized it with countless possibilities. You can change the paint scheme, color, paint type (gloss/flat, etc.), wheels, boost color, hat, and antenna toppers. This allows you to create a car that truly matches your style. | Continuously updated: Since its release, Rocket League has received frequent, continuous updates, ensuring that the game remains fresh for its die-hard fans. | It lags all the time waste of time | Can give an headache after an hour: Because of the graphics and gameplay. | Tons of fun for players looking to team up with friends: Rocket League is perfect for when you want to play with friends for some couch co-op or online play. Matches are fast-paced and quick, with a bunch of back-and-forth between which team has the ball and which team has chances to intercept and get the ball on their side of the field. Coordinating with your team can open up some awesome plays where you manage to outscore the other players or get some exciting last-minute intercepts. Plus, playing with a pre-set team helps you avoid the randomness of getting matched up with strangers who may or may not want to be team players. | Steep learning curve: It has a steep learning curve and the controls are hard to master. | Minimal features and basic gameplay keeps the players options feeling too light: Other than the main gameplay mode, there isn't much else to do. The game's laser-focus on its primary mode can be a great thing, but sometimes it can leave players wanting more. | Matchmaking can be slow at times: It can take a while to find a suitable opponent, particularly for higher-tier players. No one likes waiting around to join a match. | Rocket League was made to play with other players. Having played it on a splitscreen, I've realized that and it's way more fun than just rushing through seasons alone against bots. Besides that, laughing with your friends after your poor soccer skills is priceless. | really fun. | really fun for co op and really fast. fluid gameplay. you'll never get tired of this game. trust me ive been palying it local/online for the past 2 and half years. 1v 1, 3v3 and 4v4 are awesome. worth the purchase | One of the most fun I had !! ^ ^

Overcooked is a co-op cooking game.Overcooked is a co-op cooking game.Requires close cooperation: There is a lot of task handoff and delegation so it's not just multiple players doing the same thing, but requires actual strategizing, communication, and cooperation. | Play happens on a single screen: Everything in Overcooked happens on a single screen, meaning you won't have to deal with annoying split-screen modes where you view is limited. | Simple to pick up and learn: Overcooked is easy to figure out right from the get-go. The recipes for each dish are familiar even if you're not much of a chef, so you can remember which raw ingredients you need as you make your way around the kitchen and work with your co-op partner(s). Once you play a few rounds, you should have a good handle on things, helping you focus on getting everything done as quickly as possible from there on out. | Great COOP game: Works very well as a 4-player game. You can play it with your friends or family. | Can be incredibly frustrating: Trying to work at such a fast pace with so much mayhem going on at once can wear on you after a while. There's a lot to keep track of at once, and it's easy for things to spiral out of control as your mistakes pile up. If your group isn't doing well and you're running out of time, you might find yourself losing your patience with your team and yelling at them. This might not be the game for you if you don't have a team that's willing to be patient and cooperative with each other, even when you're not doing so well during a particular round. | Later levels are overly complicated: Levels towards the end of the game feel less and less creative | No online multiplayer: Local multiplayer only. Can't play with friends online. | Fast and frantic cooking action: Overcooked is really fast-paced and keeps you on your toes. You play as a chef in a crazy kitchen with a ton of things going on all at once, with you mixing, preparing, and cooking in between the chaos of moving platforms and environmental obstacles. There's a time limit constantly ticking down at the bottom of the screen; finishing your tasks on time or ahead of schedule earns you a better score in the end. It's such a manic yet well-done mix of many different genres and ideas that all come together in the best ways. | Lots of scenarios that require different strategies: Some levels in Overcooked are dynamic and greatly adapt the way you have to play in order to successfully complete a level. For example, at one point you and your partner(s) will be split up across multiple moving trucks and it requires quite some strategy to create meals together. | Not enough content: Can be finished in one week, even with all the DLC. | High skill ceiling: The game can be played and completed without lots of skill, but allows for you to shoot for difficult goals. | Very fun, high skill ceiling, uses lots of communication | Really fun game! | good game overcooked2 vere good geme

January 1, 2024 -

Are there any games out there I should try besides the list below?

It takes two, Unravel, A way out, Overcooked, Moving out 1/2, Borderlands 3, Earth Defence Force.

Of the list above she enjoys It takes two the most and didn’t mind borderlands 3. I personally like games like GTA, Cyberpunk and Far Cry 6, I’m wondering if there’s any split screen RPG or FPS out there that I haven’t come across. Currently we are playing COD 3 MW doing the campaign.

Any titles recommended will be appreciated! Many thanks!

‘It takes two’ is actually really good like playing a Disney Pixar movie and literally requires two players for everything. Played it last night with my kid and both really enjoyed the gameplay, although the storyline would more suit an older kid it’s totally PG- oh I see you have it on your list already. The Lego games are great despite mixed reviews, we really like the star wars saga
