r/AskConsumerAdvice on Reddit: What's the Best 60% Keyboard I Can Buy?
July 30, 2023 -

Hey r/AskConsumerAdvice, keyboard newb here needing some guidance from the experts! I've been researching smaller form mechanical keyboards and really like the streamlined look of the 60% size.

However, there are SO many different brands and models of 60% keyboards out there. I'm feeling kinda lost trying to determine which one has the best quality and features for the price.

What would you all recommend as the best 60% mechanical keyboard to buy for under $150? RGB lighting would be nice but not 100% necessary. I'd mostly use it for typing and occasional gaming.

I see names like Royal Kludge, Ducky, and Anne Pro 2 thrown around a lot but not sure how they compare or which is best for a first-timer. Any advice would be hugely appreciated! Thank you!

Hey everyone, I just recently got an Aula F75 with the graywood v3 switches from amazon. Absolutely love the keyboard, and especially love the way it sounds and feels. Only thing is, I really like the 60% form factor and was hoping you guys could guide me in the right direction. I'm basically looking for a 60% equivalent to the Aula F75 in terms of sound/feel. I know they have the Aula F65 but I'd still prefer a true 60%. Appreciate any help in advance!

r/keyboards on Reddit: 60% mechanical keyboard recommendations under $60 for office
February 11, 2025 -

I currently have a hybrid remote/in office job, but the keyboards in office are just awful.
I am looking for a 60% mechanical keyboard under the $60 price range with the following features:

- Has to be 60% size since I have to put it in my bag for commuting.
- Arrow keys and delete keys included (I work with tons of excel)
- Wireless connection through dongle or bluetooth
- Silent switches (can not be loud in the office environment)
- RGB is optional but not needed

So far, by looking at Amazon the most recommended ones are from the brand RK ROYAL KLUDGE but since I'm a total newbie in this world, I prefer you wise people from this subreddit to recommend me wisely.

Your best option would be the Nuphy Air60 , a slim wireless 60% with a "minila" layout that shifts the "Z" row 1/4 key width to the right to give you room to fit arrow keys and a delete key in the lower right corner. It is almost exactly what you're asking for, the low profile switches are quiet but not silent. It blows your budget out of the water though. The RK61 QMK/VIA version is not bad. The legacy version is awful*, though, and the new version is wired-only. The RK R65 QMK/VIA is a 65%, only very slightly larger, but it has separate arrow keys and wireless support. https://www.amazon.com/RK-ROYAL-KLUDGE-R65-Mechanical/dp/B0D5HCQPY8 For silent switches, you'll have to spend a little more and swap them out yourself. I recommend the Outemu Silent Yellow Jade, you can get a package of 70 for under $20 even with Amazon prices which is enough for any of these boards. You can also get the CIDOO QK61 or Redragon** K717 Alcor and configure them with mod-tap arrows, which lets you use the right-hand shift/alt/win/ctl keys as arrows when you tap them. https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K717-Programmable-Mechanical-Dampening/dp/B0DL578X3K https://www.amazon.com/MechLands-QK61-Programmable-Swappable-Mechanical/dp/B0D8VMD3P3 More info ... Moving up a little bit in size, you might find you can fit a 75% board in your bag. The RK R75 and Redragon K715 are decent options. https://www.amazon.com/RK-ROYAL-KLUDGE-R75-Mechanical/dp/B0D3GZYN1P https://www.amazon.com/Redragon-K715-Programmable-Mechanical-Dedicated/dp/B0DKXLDJ24 For these boards you will need a 90 pack of silent switches. Finally, you can build a Minila layout board from parts, using the YMDK DK61 or DKKB DK6064 PCBs. This is a bit adventurous though. More info ... * All the legacy Royal Kludge boards are pretty awful, the new QMK/VIA boards seem to be a bit of an about turn. That would be the QMK/VIA versions of the RK61, RK R65, RK R75, and RK R87 ** Same caveat as Royal Kludge, only the K715 and K717 are good boards

So I recently got super into laptop gaming, I had the nitro and recently upgraded my whole setup. I ended up buying a 2024 m16 r2 Alienware.

Anyways I wanted a 60% keyboard. So without doing any research I went and bought the Logitech pro x 60… and it’s not a bad keyboard…it honestly feels cheaply made and there’s no customization. Plus for the price… after using it for awhile and watching lots of YouTube videos on different brands. I was super unhappy with it. Idk if Wooting, ducky, keychron, Corsair are what I should be looking at but I definitely wanna get into an actual pro gaming 60% keyboard.

Now that being said I’m willing to spend around 200$-300$ and I want customization. Volume knobs/dials, Metal cases, custom switches and key caps. I just don’t know where to start 🤷‍♂️

Bluetooth or wireless dongle isn’t super important but i figure most keyboards nowadays that’s kinda standard.

This is my first Reddit post so hopefully I explain everything right!! Thanks for the help!!

Hey everyone - looking for 60% gaming keyboards for a birthday gift. I currently have the Ducky Mech Mini v2 I believe is the model with brown switches and I like it but I am changing up my setup and looking for something new. I don’t believe I want a wireless keyboard but open to suggestions. Any switch recommendations would be great too. I play fps games and don’t want anything that makes audible clicks like the blue switch

Hello All,

Am about to jump down the rabbit hole :)

Looking for a 60% Keyboard to start (Second hand, or new).

Ideally a board that is the most 'universal' custom wise, so that I can play with switches, layouts, keys, etc... until I find my favourite feel, and eventually move on to another board.

Use: Mainly Typing and writing, no gaming mostly.

Must have:

Mac Os Compatible

Good Quality and trusted brand (Respected by the community, good support or doc available)

2.4ghz and wired. Good Solid Minimal Body (Clean Look, wired/wireless switch outside the body?)

Compatible with Via (This seems the way to go?)

Switches - Comfortable (not too much pressure), smooth?

Sound Profile - Rain sounds good indeed, but comfort prevails.

Keycaps?, is Cherry the way? (I guess this relates to board profile, etc)

Am thinking of starting on the lower profile side for comfort? Are round edges more important for the case?
your recommendations are welcome.

Been using apple keyboards for the last 20 years ;)

Many thanks!

Y.

Well you won’t be able to try layout with a single board. Those change with each keyboard. With a hotswap option (this is a pcb option) you can easily change switches to find what you like the sound and feel of. Same with keycaps, easily swappable. The only thing that is within each keyboard is material sound (plastic vs metal vs wood, etc.). You can experiment with foam and other dampening materials for sound within the case. You’ll just have to figure out size/layout. 60%-100%, up to you. Just start within your budget and get hotswap. Keychron, Monsgeek, Qwertykeys or NuPhy are a few decent budget brands. There are others depending on what you consider quality.

CIDOO QK61 with replacement switches and keycaps of your choice. It's really a lovely board. And the tap-and-hold mod from this file because it makes the arrow keys so natural and easy to use. I stole the idea from the new GK61 QMK/VIA with some mods. For the QK61 I left layer 1 alone because I didn't want to screw around figuring out all their CSTM codes and overwrote the Mac layer with my preferred Fn layer. You will probably want to do things differently. If you do copy the tap-and-hold mod, once you're happy with the layout could I have a copy of your layout.json file for my collection? Or submit it as a pull request to https://github.com/argentStonecutter/keyboards ... Mine! I went with Womier BoW MOA caps and Silent Lemon v3. I use a Mac but prefer the generic Windows/PC layout for the modifiers so you probably do not want to blindly copy my layout.

r/Keyboard on Reddit: Best TKL/60 percent for gaming?
March 18, 2023 -

The ones I am deciding for are the:

Corsair K70 RGB champion series, has low latency and very good switch actuation, which are the things I want.

Corsair K70 pro mini wireless: small, fast keyboard with good latency and alright Actuation.

Apex pro mini, very good actuation and response time.

Gamakey k61 pro, nice sound, but not as good actuation and latency as it’s competitors.

Asus ROG falchin: Touch Bar and nice latency, bad multi device connection, but that okay.

Wooting 60he: very similar to the apex pro mini.

So, that’s the complete list of which keyboards I am considering, if you have any other keyboards that have fast actuation and good latency, please let me know!

I want to buy a 60 or 65 keyboard because I've noticed that when i get my keyboard in a comfortable position, it's on my mousepad a little bit. I've been using a TKL for a while and want to give a 60 or 65 a go and was just wondering if anybody has a recommendations or knows of any high quality 60 or 65 keyboards. I don't really have a price limit, just want to make sure I'm buying something I know is a high quality piece of equipment.

I need help, any good keyboards that're not too noisy, not a kb enthusiast, but I've used one but forgot what kind of switch it is, it's light and quiet, satisfying to press.

budget: 5k-8k

pref with Bluetooth dongle or a long ass cable ( my PC is on another table )

I would say wooting 60he is your best bet. the module, and an aluminum case, that they make or like a tofu redux and that should do nicely. ... Non-mouse and non-audio input devices for the discerning fingertip.
