I have several abercombie jeans and I recently purchase the athletic loose jeans, and Maaan! The material is thick and you can tell the high quality compared to my other jeans.. pretty heavy as well. I normally wear a size 34 but decided to go up to 36 for a little extra space on the waiste and after washing they did shrunk a little and now fit like a 34 lol so I kept purchasing 36.. I got that idea of going a size up after ordering the exact size from levis 34 and then after washing, they felt tighter and I just didn't like how uncomfortable that felt.. What is everyone’s experience with Abercrombie jeans?

I have never bought from them, but I see a lot of people talking about the Curve Love jeans and how comfortable they are. I am 5’3 and generally wear a size 10 (but sometimes I go up for more room). My dilemma is I am short waisted so my stomach has always been in the way where the waist hits on me.

August 20, 2024 -

Hey all!

So I’m 5ft with a big booty/thighs but a small waist, meaning I always get the dreaded back gap with just about all jeans 😒

BUT I am determined to find the perfect pair of every day jeans!

Has anyone got any recommendations for brands which has suitable petite range but also suit big bum/small waist?

The Abercrombie curve love range seems like it would be a great option, has anyone personally bought these and could recommend or not?

Any help appreciated!

TIA x

UPDATE: Late updated but I finally got the jeans! I got the 90s relaxed style in distressed black and also blue, the black fit perfect, the blue were a little tight on the hips for some reason, despite being the same size. The denim was thick but comfortable, bit more rigid than I would typically want.

I also got the wide leg super high waist and these are THE BEST jeans I’ve ever owned. Super comfortable light weight denim, very minimal back gap but practically none. I got 24inch waist in short length (I’m 5ft) I would say these are true to size. My new favourite!

r/AbercrombieandFitch on Reddit: I Tried Every Abercrombie & Fitch Jean So You Don’t Have To — Here’s Everything I Learned 👖🔥
September 30, 2025 -

Alright folks, after seeing Abercrombie jeans everywhere (and hearing one too many influencers say “these are the only jeans I wear now”), I decided to go full scientist. And while I didn’t try them all, I did hit on quite a few — for the sake of denim data integrity, obviously. 25 pairs of denim in various sizes, styles, and lengths and one very long October.

First, a few points of reference, because every experiment needs a test subject: I’m 5’3”, 125 lbs, and what you’d classically call pear-shaped — narrower up top, wider through the hips and thighs. Because of that, I usually buy the Curve Love fit at Abercrombie.

🥇 High-Waisted Loose Jean

These run big, my friends. Bigger than the 90s Straight or 90s Relaxed. I usually wear a 27, but I had to size down to a 25 in these.

I got tons of compliments — they’re truly a statement jean. The rise is high-high, which works beautifully for my longer torso, but shorter-torsoed friends might not love the fit. They’re wide from thigh to ankle — a real wide leg, not just “kinda relaxed.”

I grabbed the short length (perfect with platform sneakers) and also got the regular length to wear with my heeled Jessy Docs (3.5”).

✅ True wide-leg look ⚠️ Runs big, very high rise ⭐ Great for long torsos

🥈 90s High-Rise Relaxed Jean

This one is the crowd favorite, and for good reason. It’s a high-waisted, full-length jean that hits right at the top of your shoe.

It’s a heavier, more structured denim — feels substantial and classic, not flimsy. It’s more fitted through the thigh and knee than the Loose fit, but not a full “straight leg.”

They’re comfy, but they stretch out a lot over the day. I ended up with a size 26 in these.

✅ Heavier denim, structured feel ⚠️ Stretches out after wear ⭐ Best for average-to-long torsos

🥉 High-Rise Cropped Wide Leg

These are super wide — like, culotte wide. The shape is really fun and flowy, but the fabric is thin, definitely more like a pant/trouser than a jean.

They hit right at the ankle bone, and I could totally see them being adorable in spring or summer with a tank or cropped tee.

✅ Airy, wide, great for warmer months ⚠️ Very thin denim — not for cold weather

💎 Mid-Rise Slouchy Jean (The Winner!)

These are my ride-or-die jeans now. Perfect blend of loose and fitted — snug through the hip and thigh without squeezing, and then loose all the way down the leg. They do not look as slouchy on, rather more of a true relaxed fit (imo).

The short length hit perfectly at the top of my platform sneakers, and the standard length worked great with my Docs.

The medium wash runs lighter than it looks online — it’s that ideal “vintage but not faded” tone. The denim is thick with no stretch, so they feel like a true vintage pair when you wear them.

They also run big, so again, I went with a size 25.

✅ True vintage vibe ✅ Flattering on curves without gaping waist ⚠️ Runs large

Final Thoughts

Abercrombie is killing it with denim right now, but sizing is chaos. Everything runs large, the rises are generous, and the fits vary way more than you’d think between styles.

If you’re curvy like me: • Size down in almost everything • Stick with Curve Love • Don’t be afraid to buy multiple lengths if you switch between sneakers and boots — it really makes a difference

After all this, my heart belongs to the Mid-Rise Slouchy Jean. If I could marry a pair of pants, it would be them.

October 14, 2025 -

I bought a pair of Abercrombie Baggy Jeans a few weeks ago, which I loved and thought were an absolutely perfect fit on me. After the first wash, though, they shrank like crazy, and their sillouhette became completely different than it was before, while also being 2 inches shorter. I followed all the instructions carefully -- cold, gentle wash, and hang dry.

I am not going to waste more money on another pair of jeans that are just going to shrink on me again. Does anyone know any jeans from other brands that fit similar to the Abercrombie Baggy fit?

r/PetiteFashionAdvice on Reddit: The search for curvy petite jeans Part 3: Abercrombie short vs. extra short
October 26, 2024 -

This is a follow-up to my earlier posts (Part 1 and Part 2). Based on your feedback, the Abercrombie 90s Relaxed Jean and 90s Straight Jean were the most recommended. However, several people suggested I try the short length instead of the extra short, so I’ve tried both for comparison.

I'm a bit confused about the ideal length. When I see people out in my city, I notice jeans either cover the top of sneakers or are cropped enough to show a bit of sock—there doesn’t seem to be an in-between. I’m unsure which length is best for different settings like the office vs. a night out.

A few questions:

  1. Short or extra short on the 2 styles? Are there specific situations where one is better than the other?

  2. Some people mentioned that the knees don’t fit me well. Is this a dealbreaker, or should I compromise since the rest fits well?

  3. Is the 90s straight jean too close to a skinny jean? Does it look outdated or frumpy?

For reference:

  • Height: 5'2"

  • Weight: 133 lbs

  • Waist: ~27 in

  • Hips: ~38.5 in

  • I generally fit size 26 or 27.

Anyone know of any mid-range or premium brands selling skinny jeans similar to Abercrombie’s Super Skinny jeans from 2016ish

I understand the super skinny has fallen out of favor but these were my default for years until all my pairs finally wore out. Now Abercrombie has defaulted to a more straight leg style.

Price isn’t a major factor

bottom pair of jeans is a 26R 90s ultra high rise straight jean. love them, but really needed a short size. i bought the bottom pair of jeans in june. they are not old, stretched out, or altered in any way.

i ordered a 26s 90s ultra high rise last week and i cannot even button them. comparing the two, the new pair is clearly significantly smaller than the other pair. i am the same weight i was when i purchased the first pair, which fit me perfectly from the time i took them out of the package.

i own 2 other size 26 jeans from abercrombie in different styles and they also fit me very well.

the only difference that i can tell is that the new pair is made in mexico while the older pair is made in cambodia. as someone who doesn’t live near an abercrombie this is frustrating because i expected these jeans to fit the same, except be a bit shorter. now i dont know if i need to size up, how much i should size up, or if this was a fluke.

has anyone else had this issue with recently purchased jeans?

I have been trying to find jeans for a couple years now. I still haven't had any luck. I have one pair of madewell jeans that are fine for now but they aren't comfortable. I have tried a bunch of Levi's on but they are too long. Abercrombie has been the best but very inconsistent in sizing. They also seem to never restock the popular colors? I would love to find jeans that feel similar to the 90s relaxed.

So many people recommended these to me and idk if I just got too big of a size but they are so baggy and give me no shape. I’m honestly so confused because they fit great in the waist and buttocks but the thighs are so baggy. Do they shrink up after a wash or should I try a smaller size? I’ve never had pants be baggy in the thigh, I have pretty thick thighs so idk what’s going on.

Has this happened to anyone? Please drop any of your favorite jeans down in the comments!

I know they used to have a bad rep, so I always kinda avoided them. But I went in there the other day and they actually had some pretty good stuff, specifically their button downs and camp collars, ended up getting a few items. It was a little bit pricey but quality and material seemed pretty good. What do you guys think of them? And how did they end up with such a bad rep?

Here’s a good overview . Essentially they made some changes at the top and started rebranding - never wore them in high school but I’ve picked up a few things in the past five years and have been impressed.

So I’m an older guy and I can explain where the bad rep came from — in the late 90s / early 00s this was just the most toxic clothing brand. Their catalogs were basically soft porn featuring WASPy implied MMF threesomes, and almost no clothes. The clothes were besides the point. They were selling an exclusively white image for the beautiful teenagers with exactly one body type. If you went in the store, the employees were trained to kind of sneer and dismiss you with an obnoxious “don’t you know you don’t belong here?” attitude. Behind the scenes, the brick and mortar stores were rife with harassment and discrimination, with employees deemed not-hot-enough relegated out of sight to the stock room, employees being body shamed if they started to gain weight or had skin issues, people of color facing openly racist employment discrimination, and so on. There’s a great documentary about just how evil every layer of this brand was back then. Models were sexually assaulted by photographers. Corporate office employees were coerced into going to drug-and-alcohol fueled retreats where the women were just expected to hook up. It goes on. And all this for a store which, back then, primarily sold logo tees and sweatshirts. The newer A&F stuff is fun. They do budget versions of ALD and other neo-prep-streetwear type brands at the mall brand price point. Quality is about what you’d expect for the price — a little bit flimsy with wear, but nothing horrible. Don’t fill your closet up with it too much. But like once a season I’ll like the design on one of their knit polos and buy it.

I want to try the Abercrombie 90's straight jeans but I don't know what size to buy and they're expensive so I don't want to buy 2 sizes. My waist is 31 inches and I normally wear a 29 but according to their charts I should buy a 30. On Poshmark, sellers are stating the waist measures at 32 for a 30 which would be too big but the 29 is measuring at 30 which would be too small. Does anyone know if they stretch out while wearing or if they will shrink in the dryer?

Dear SD goddesses,

I followed recs on the Ultra High Waist/Curve Love/Stretch Flare jeans from A&F (pfew what a lengthy name)

It looks fabulous on many of you but doesn't fit me. Looks too baggy and large. Do you have alternatives?

=>Looking for a ultra high waist and less flare, I would like a narrower bootcut shape. =>Specific curve accommodation, why not, I don't know if I need it. =>If fabric could be softer than normal denim, it's better. Looking for a good quality item though.

Thank you for your time and help :-) Have a great day!
