This ranking may seem flawed for obvious reasons like not a single one was made before 2000s or how almost all of them are mainstream movies but i guess i'm kind of a basic guy.
Recommend me some more movies which you found awesome.
Name the best Bollywood (Hindi) movie of all time in your opinion. The top ten most voted will go into a poll and we'll determine which is the best amongst them. I'll post the link to the poll later on as this community doesn't allow it and then post the results. If your favorite is already mentioned then just upvote it that'll help get it into the lead, multiple comments with the same movie mentioned won't help.

Would love to see your thoughts and how would you rank them
I need to be pointed to the best.
In our Hindi Film Industry, action means people flying with a touch, action is never part of the narrative of the film, it's just treated like a prop (like how songs and unnecessary comic sequences are added for padding the runtime or filling the film due to non existent plot).
But saying that we don't have capable people of doing action would be an understatement as people like Vidyut Jamwal and John Abraham have given us good action movies but their problem is that the 'action' is main USP of the film while the script and structure takes a dip (for eg. Commando movies)
Good Example of an action movie would be Nishikant Kamat's Rocky Handsome with a cracking finale for all action junkies with a good plotline and direction.
One of the mainstream action heroes would be Tiger Shroff with capabilities at par with world renowned martial artists and performers but I feel he's extremely underutilized as he is moulded in a more of Hero than a character. I feel if an action director from Hong Kong takes up TS, it would be a blast to watch.
Now rant over, and coming to the question, what is your favourite action movie of all time as I'm a huge action junkie and would like to know your picks and would be happy to give suggestions if you want.
Thanks!
Doesn’t have to be critically acclaimed or anything, just your personal favorites.
So I think it would be fun to sit down one night and watch some of these movies with my friends, so what are like the top 5/10 must see Bollywood action films?
Watch Dhoom 2.. It is the perfect mix of outrageous action scenes and songs - most bollywood of bollywood action movies.
Assuming you are in the US, Dhoom 2 is available on netflix.
You dont need to watch the first movie in the series because sequel tells a different story.
I am sure you have seen this gif.. For more of the same awesomeness watch Singham. Its on netflix too.
I will second Singham. Also check out Dabangg. Both the movies have sequels too.
Most of the posts made on this sub are actually not from Bollywood, which are Hindi movies made in Bombay (now Mumbai). Almost all the clips I see here are from south Indian movies.
i think 3 idiots is the best bollywood movie ever made . like the GOAT . right?
Admittingly I'm a noob to this sector of film. Only ones I can think of that I've seen are RRR and I think I watched Pather Panchali a while ago.
I realize this can be a very broad topic of film but I'm open to anything that can be kind of a transcendent or simply interesting watch.
Anyone have any ideas for good Indian films to check out?
Thanks
What was your fav moment from this film?
Have only seen RRR and the Bahubali films but they blew my mind lol they are a rollercoaster of emotion and fun as hell.
imdb ratings for indian films seem to be extremely skewed and they don’t get a lot of rot tom attention so i’m hoping there’s some bollywood die hards that can recommend me some similar movies.
doesn’t have to be similar in what it’s about, just in quality. Not looking for a drama or romance, need some sick fights/crime, action and intensity.
Edit: Tollywood**
I'm pretty new to Bollywood movies, but have seen clips of utterly ridiculous action scenes, and would like to see some entire films on my birthday next week - the more hilariously ludicrous the better! Ideally they'd be actually good films as well...
There is the complication, however, that one of the people I would like to watch them with is heavily dyslexic so can't read subtitles (or at least not much - during slower scenes would be less of problem, if necessary we could read them to her).
So what should we watch? I don't mind if they're dubbed or were originally in English, and I'm using Bollywood in the broadest possible sense of the term (as I said, I'm pretty new to the subject). I've heard of Singham, is that and/or its sequels worth a watch? And are there any that would be subtitled that I should watch at a later date?
tl;dr: title says it all really
The subject- What are the movies, that you consider are must watch Bollywood movies. From older classics like DDLJ to newer ones like YJHD. Movies that someone assumes you would have watched when you talk to them.
Trying to compile a list here and watch the ones i have not.
I’ve never seen a Bollywood film, and I don’t know where to start. Can someone recommend me a film that will start me in the genre without being too overwhelming?
I’m basically an American Midwesterner who likes musicals, rom-coms... pretty much anything that is not all action. I know only a little about Indian culture, and hoping to learn much more through their media. I feel like I’m missing out on a huge world of amazing films, but it seems like most Bollywood films require a working knowledge of culture, customs and language- none of which I have.
So I’m taking recommendations! Please introduce me to Bollywood.!
