I’ve got a 2013 v6 mustang. Had it for a long time and it’s got a lot of sentimental value, so instead of dumping it for a v8, I’m looking into a few ways to modernize it more.
One thing I’m considering is a remote start device. I don’t really need it, I live in a warm climate. But it always seemed cool to me, starting it with a button and hearing the engine rev up.
It’s a higher mileage car, about 140k miles. I don’t want to impact it’s reliability or shave off any years of life. So my question is, a remote starter from a reputable mechanic: harmless fun or electrical nightmare?

I have remote starts in both my vehicles. I love starting my car and watching ice melt while I have my coffee, still in my underwear. That being said, if you want convenience upgrades, look at an upgraded head unit with AA or CarPlay. I just upgraded my 15 WRX to wireless CarPlay and I’ve stopped wanting a new car, for the moment.

Personally, I love anything made by Compustart. There are other kits people use religiously for the Rav4 that's direct plug and play, but I've used Compustart for years and they're customer service and product reliability is insanely good. More on reddit.com

Best Buy has remote starters plus install last I knew for around $300-$400. Granted, that was a few years ago with a different car. Connected sevices is only $10 a month or so, I thought? I'd probably be keeping mine after the trial ends for the tire pressure, location, and remote start.

I’ve seen a number of different after market remote start kits. I have a 2019 RAV4 Hybrid LE with turn key ignition, and it does not come with the factory remote start. Does anyone have insight on the best aftermarket kit?

You will see that Best Buy runs promotion on a regular basis where you can get it for $250 installed and with harness for your car included. I have those on 3 toyotas and they work great. They also run promos on LTE versions but I never had those.
