Looking for a FOSS PDF reader for Android. Any must-try recommendations?
P.S. Already eyeing MuPDF, LibreraReader, KOReader. Thoughts?
Note: I wish it were Material Design 3, but this is impossible in anyway...

One month ago I decided to degoogle my phone ( as far as it's possible ) , I exchanged as many apps as I could for open source one. But the thing is I can't find a good pdf reader. I tried Mupdf ans Orion both medium. You have any other recommendations.

( For now I still use Adobe's pdf reader )

Desktop wise, Okular made by KDE project is great. On Linux and Windows. MacOS has a built in reader. It’s also in beta on IzzyDroid and Fdroid repos. As for the meantime with android, this one may s’be what you are looking for. Can also do ebooks.

Hey everyone 👋 I’m searching for a good open-source PDF reader for Android. I prefer something simple, privacy-friendly, and stable.

Which one do you personally use and why do you like it?

Suggestions are welcome! 🙌

They're all pretty bad (either they dont expose the table of content, don't allow you to select text, don't allow you to search, they're super slow on large PDFs, etc..) The best I found is ReadEra but it's not FOSS. Librera is similar and FOSS. Other than that you should know that Firefox can now open PDF files directly. Brave/chromium can view PDF but afaik it doesn't expose it to the system (so when tapping a PDF in your file manager brave won't be an option, but Firefox/Fennex will)

Right now, I use the M365 app to scan and read documents, but I'd like to switch to a non–big tech alternative. Does anyone have any recommendations? I know this isn't exactly a Google-related topic, but I believe this is the right place to find good open source suggestions.

Would tesseract + leptonica work? I am not too familiar with Android, but for scanning I use these two. For PDF handling in general I use qpdf. Perhaps f-droid has some apps, I need to look that up as well.

But I don't know what you mean by Open Source. Maybe FREE? If yes, ezPDF Reader has a paid and a somewhat reduced (but not free) lite version.
