I’m writing this post from the comfort of my friends bean bag chair. It’s a little small for me (6’+)
So my question is, are there go to brands or models of bean bag chairs that last a lifetime and are comfortable enough for relaxing in?
I’d been thinking of getting a comfortable reading chair, but a bean bag might be the more affordable/comfortable route.
I had no idea bean bag chairs suddenly became luxury items because you could get one for $20 the last time I was in the market for one. Now I am confused about what could possibly make someone pay the equivalent of a new couch for this item. I can’t bring myself to pay Lovesac prices for this—any good alternatives? Does the filling matter? It’s for a kid.
Hey guys, I know bean bag chairs are popular to use as overflow seating. We are going to be waiting a long time on our actual home theatre seats to arrive, so we’re going to get some bean bag chairs to at least have SOME seating.
Any recommendations or things we should avoid?
How are the Costco Crash Pillows? They’re a good price, but are they suitable as bean bag home theatre seats? Could a 6 foot person recline in one comfortably?
Any recommendations would be very helpful.
I am looking for a big comfortable bean bag that isn't going to tear or break.
Thank you in advance.
My living room is massive, and the couch at the back of the room is too far away to fully enjoy my massive LG OLED.
Wife won't let me move the furniture since, y'know, she's the boss... And her reasoning makes sense, our downstairs is open plan and having the couch at the optimal viewing distance is going to break that up.
Anyway, I'm the only one that cares to sit at the optimal viewing distance and I usually do so when she's not around and I'm eating cereal in my Y fronts..
So she's allowing me to buy a bean bag, or some sort of seating that I can store in the corner of the room or in the closet.
I've been doing some research and lots of people on here recommend lovesac, but I cannot get my head around paying nearly $1k for a bean bag.
Some people have recommended moon pods, but the reviews are iffy, some people love it, some say the quality is garbage.
The problem with all of these is that I'd have to buy sight unseen, and they all proclaim returns are on your dime (most people in the reviews quote $150+ to return such large items).
So I'm kinda stumped.
Comfort means a lot to me (I fucked my back last year, and had no problem spending a lot of money on a proper orthopedic office chair)... But at the same time, I'm also looking for a damn bean bag. So.. kinda why the lovesac seems a crazy price to me.
Hoping hometheatre can come to my rescue with some suggestions as I hate sitting like 12ft away from my TV at nights.
Also, before anyone suggests it divorce is unfortunately not the answer. I'm punching way above my weight already.
Hi all! After trying our my friend's Lovesac, I really want to add a good quality beanbag chair to my living room. Space really isn't much of an issue, but I'm definitely trying not to pay Lovesac prices.
Out of Comfy Sac, Ultimate Sac 6000, Big Joe, and Yogibo Max, which one should I go for?
Hey everyone,
I just "finished" my TV setup, and this is the open space I have:

I'm interested in putting a bean bag chair in this open space so I can lean back and watch...stuff. Where would I go to get a quality one because I would rather not buy from Walmart.
If this is not the subreddit to ask, what would be the subreddit to ask?
Thanks!
EDIT: I live on the east coast, US.
You won't get a quality bag for less than $100 I'm afraid. Your choices in general are cheap Wally bags or ones like LoveSac. I concur that the Sacs are amazingly comfortable though. Worth the investment. Just get a small one.
Yogibo Minis are just over $100 ($119). https://www.yogibo.com/bean-bags/indoor-bean-bags/ The shipping quote to me (also East Coast) was $15. They also offer free in-store pick up.
Yogibo does have sales every so often, Black Friday included.
We splurged on a Yogibo Max and Support a few years ago after spending several holidays and weekends in a row lounging on a set at our relatives'. IIRC, I purchased them either during an extended Black Friday sale, or a holiday promo they had going. Can't recall the price break, however - sorry!
Very comfy, and my friends rant about it. I'd love to try a Lovesac, but I'm not comfortable with their pricing - I chose to spend more on a modern sectional, which although it would have depreciated had I bought it at retail pricing, generally holds its value well (as an iconic piece).
Finally got rid of the cozy rocker in my son’s room (there were tears….from me) because he never sat on our laps anymore for book time (too big, too wiggly). Now that we sit on the floor to read, he insists on sitting in our laps, naturally. As much as I love this, I feel like we need a small/medium bean bag chair or something—for mom and dad if nothing else and if he likes it, great! I am overwhelmed with the variety of choices Google is presenting—in my day it seemed like beans were the only option but now they seemed to be filled with all kinds of stuff. Anyone have something your kiddo/you really love?!
I've never owned a bean bag chair. But I think my kid would dig it.
Was walking around in the mall and saw lovesac... very nice and comfy... but very expensive ($900 ish) for a bean bag chair. Then another day saw some cheap ones in walmart... they were maybe $50 or so. But was thinking, how comfortable can they be at that price? Will they get lumpy and uncomfortable after a few minutes of sitting in them?
Is there something in between these two extreme price ranges?
Something that's decent quality but won't break the bank? Maybe in the $100-$250 range?
Hello!
We're looking for a comfortable bean bag chair that is large enough to curl up and read a book or two.
If anyone has bought one or knows about good places to buy one, please share!
I recently setup a video game room prior to looking into seating. Back in the day, you could buy bean bags for $20 a piece. This seems to no longer be the case. It looks like anything even remotely worthwhile is $100+. Are there good affordable bean bags anywhere? What options exist other than bean bags? I have office chairs, but don't find those comfortable for long periods. Thanks for the advice.
Generally beanbags are frowned upon, was wondering if anyone here uses them. Reason im asking is i live in a studio apt and dont have space for a couch or loveseat thinking a beanbag would be a good alternative.
If you must have a beanbag look into Lovesacs. Same concept, but it's filled with better materials. I have a CitySac from them in my game room. It's good for playing video games in or just relaxing.
I am not going to say beanbags are good or bad. But if you are going to get one, don't get the cheap ones that tend to look terrible and deflated after about 6 months. I highly recommend the Sumo beanbags. They are high quality and come in lots and lots of different styles and shapes for most seating/lounging purposes that a couch or love-seat would fulfill. Also, on a lot of the models the covers are removable and washable to help keep it clean and not look like you picked it up at Goodwill for a buck.
So I want to get an atypical place to sit - so no typical chairs or recliners, to relax, read, and just get away from it all. Right now a bigger (4'?) bean bag chair is at the top of my list, but I'm open to suggestions.
My question is - is this a horrible idea? Are they not as comfortable for reading/relaxing as they seem? I won't be watching TV or anything like that in it. A followup question would be - where the hell can I get one online? No one around me has any.
