We found a mattress that we liked at IKEA, but I wasn't really impressed by any bed frame.
Overall, we thought the beds we saw in the store were short. I figure we'll have to get a box spring, too.
Our main concern is blocking off underneath the bed. We need the bed to either reach the floor or be structured in a way that we could create a barricade underneath. (Raised, moving drawers present a challenge.) We want to prevent our cats being unreachable in the event of an emergency. Also, they are up to no good under there. Vomit, stolen bread loaves, etc.
We need a king size which narrows down the offered styles.
We also prefer a wood look to black or white finishes, but we'll settle on color for function and reliability. (I'm a light sleeper, so I REALLY need a quiet bed.)

IKEA beds coworker here! Based on your concerns with height and going to the floor, I’d recommend BRIMNES without the headboard. MALM, HEMNES, SONGESAND, or NORDLI would also work, but they are low

I just got the Tonstad bed with the drawers and it's definitely high quality. The wood veneer is really nice and feels amazing. The bed so far feels rock solid. At 15% off currently I can't complain.

My husband and I bought our bedframe from Ashley furniture when we first moved into our house. Needless to say, it’s been five years and the bedframe is absolute garbage.
We’re looking for a bedframe that’s going to last us a very long time, one that goes with a mid-century vibe, upholstered headboard, and one that has really good central support (this is the biggest issue with the Ashley furniture frame).
I’ve been looking at Thuma but I am worried that im buying a brand and not the quality even though the reviews are looking pretty promising.
