So, recently (a few months ago) I bought my new setup (everything except the G-Card)
B450 Tomahawk MAX
Ryzen 5 3600 (non X)
2x8gb 3200 CL16 Kingston predator RAM
256gb Adata boot NVMe SSD
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black
So This is my 1st time owning an unlocked CPU and i was curious about which BIOS settings to use. I'm not interested in pushing too much but i would like to experiment a little for fun.
I tried All core overclock and 4.2GHz is not hard. But I'm more curious about PBO and Auto-OC
So far everything i have tried has shown No difference at all.
PBO Auto/Enabled/Enhanced1-4 ... manual
Auto-OC +500 in Bios / +200 in Ryzen master...
LLC tried everything
Got "1usmus Ryzen Power Plan" and changed some settings that he recommended but everything is exactly the same.
By "same" I mean:
4000 all core boost. (down to 3975 sometimes)
4.2 on 3 cores. 4.175-4.150 on the others.
Temp is only passing 65C in Aida stress test.
I have never been able to get anything above 4.2 on any of the cores.
Now I'm not complaining. That is what is advertised so I'm perfectly happy. I'm just curious could I Do more?
The cooling isn't the best thing out there but it isn't the worst. Maybe my Silicon Lottery is such that that is all i can do...
What I would like is people with the same setup to share their experiences and/or settings (as detailed as possible ... Anything that they have changed from stock would be appreciated)

I am a COMPLETE noob when it comes to messing around in the BIOS and making meaninful changes that increase performance.
I only know basic things like XMP and such but no clue how to squeeze performance out of my CPU.
I heard that you can get better FPS and whatnot by easily overclocking my CPU and RAM (?) i think.
Currently have:
B450 DS3H
Stock Cooler
Ryzen 5 3600
Patriot Viper Steel 32 GB 3600MHZ (cant check timings at the time of posting, can give them if asked in comments)
RX 6600XT
Windows 11
EDIT: Also changed these settings in BIOS like 2 minutes ago. https://imgur.com/m4rENRI
Hi there, I have a Ryzen 5 5600 non X non G just the 5600 with a Gigabyte B550 motherboard, I was wondering what bios settings would be perfect for the best power consumption to performance ratio.
I don't wanna change voltage or anything I only wanna fiddle with the PBO Settings but since this is my first AMD PC I'm quite noob so please help me out.
Like I wanna know 3 things:
-
What the settings for best performance
-
What is the best balanced settings between performance and power consumption (like undervolting and stuffs)
-
What is the settings for absolute lowest power consumption
All with precision boost overdrive
So I Have this setting for my CPU
Cpu voltage offset: -0.05
PBO: disabled
cool n quiet: enabled
Both CPPC: enabled
everything else on auto
my idle temps are 42-60C
Full load max 73C (Cores are on 4025)
Is there anything else to change?
Motherboard: b450 Tomahawk Max
Ram: 3200c16
I use this CPU for video editing.
Edit: I am getting a 1560 score in Cinebench 15.
Hi guys,
ive got R5 3600 watercooled 280 mm MB b450 msi gaming plus max
im giving a try with pbo with these setting in bios:
PPT 88
TDC 60
EDC 90
scalar to X3
core boost +200mhz
cpu voltage negative offset 0,05v
core performance boost and auto oc enabled
monitored voltage in game (SVI2TFN) and its around 1,35-1,4v in game with a temp around 55°c
some core boost up to 4250 mhz
i wonder if this voltage is safe ? temp pretty okay never above 60.
Hi there, I have a (brand new) Ryzen 5 3600 on an equally new Asus Prime B450M-A II motherboard.
After replacing my parts from 2012 with my shiny new ones I booted straight into windows and noticed a few problems, for one my processor was reporting it's base clock as 3.95GHz (opposed to the 3.6GHz it should).
I booted into the BIOS and set it to the optimized defaults and it seemed to fix some issues, but the CPU wasn't going under the base clock like my old intel processor would (base speed of 3.4GHz but would clock down to 1.6GHz on idle) or turboing up to the advertised 4.2GHz (it would only reach just over 4GHz.
I haven't changed any BIOS settings other than fan control because I don't want to void my warranty in case my CPU is faulty, but I was wondering if it was possible to alter the boost clock on AMD without altering the base clock and if I'm missing some important settings or knowledge.
Basically I want to overclock, but for now I would settle for base speeds and a better understanding of my BIOS, but I can't find solutions to either of these through a lot of googling.
I got very used to my old motherboard's BIOS and Intel-based overclocking so my new BIOS is confusing me slightly so even any general explanations and advice on AMD would be greatly appreciated thank you!
(Also if I've made a mistake on my post or flair please let me know and I'll change it)
