Was thinking about how I love clinging to a blanket when I fall asleep but would like one that remains at least somewhat cool throughout the night. Anyone have a brand or style of sleeping blanket or sheet they might recommend ?

I don't know much about bedding, but what I do know is that I very much struggle sleeping during the summer night as my area gets pretty hot and my AC doesn't work that great, so I was wondering what are good, cool, breathable, summer blanket options?
I don't mind paying a premium (within reason of course), if they product is actually worth it.
I’m in need of a summer blanket. I have to have the weight of a blanket on me, literally head to toe (seriously, I must be completely covered, up to and including my ears) to sleep but in the summer I just get so hot, I need something breathable. I require the weight, I’ve tried just using a top sheet but it’s not heavy enough and I still feel exposed. But not a weighted blanket. I’m thinking something like a layered cotton muslin blanket, but all the ones I’m finding look so thin, I’m worried they won’t be weighty enough. Looking to spend below $150. And not from Amazon.
I live in an old country house with poor insulation and no central air. Sometimes it’s hotter in the house than it is outside 😩 We have a portable ac, 2 big fans, and a ceiling fan all blowing in the room. It’s still not cool enough to use with a thin blanket & sheet. I often find myself waking up sweating.
ETA: We used to have a window unit but it crapped out. Bought it pre Covid for around $250/300 and now the same unit is like $700+. Also fun fact about my weird body… if the room is too cold I’ll wake up hotter. I guess I bundle up more in my sleep vs kicking a foot out or leaving an arm out or sheets down more 🤷🏻♀️ Most regular window units are too small for this room.
What are the best ~affordable~ cooling sheets, pillows, blanket, mattress protector, & mattress topper? Bonus points if you include cooling sleepwear! I don’t want to spend $100+ on a single pair of pajamas but if a set of sheets & blanket are a little pricier for something that works well and is worth it then I’m open to splurging a little on long term comfort. We’ve even thought about getting the fan that blows under the sheets 🤣
Hey fellow furnaces of the night! I'm on the hunt for a legit cooling comforter that won't turn into a sweat trap by 2 AM. I've narrowed it down to two options but could use real-user experiences before pulling the trigger.
Option 1: Bedsure Cooling Comforter
Claims to use "3D airflow technology"
Bamboo-derived rayon cover
Medium weight (good for year-round use?)
Option 2: Evercool Comforter
Specifically markets to menopausal women (I'm not one, but if it works...)
"Phase-change" cooling fibers
Lightweight design
About me:
Sleep HOT (like, wake-up-drenched hot)
Mostly a side sleeper
Prefer something that doesn't feel plasticky
Need machine-washable
I’ve become very picky about bedding in the last few years but I’m also a very hot sleeper. I’m looking for a lightweight quilt or blanket that is breathable and lightweight but good quality too. I have an organic cotton duvet cover I’m using right now (with no insert) that is basically the thickness of two sheets put together and while it’s lightweight it’s almost not enough blanket but it also looks a mess on the bed. I think the duvet + cover is a bit too much from what I’ve tried in the past. I was looking at a linen quilt but I’ve never used linen and I’m a bit hesitant about it being scratchy. Looking for advice on if linen is the way to go, is it going to be too rough? General brands to check out? Or should I go bamboo or eucalyptus?
Again, just to be clear; I'm planning on trying to fix this from the mattress/sheets/pillow up as you guys may recall from my last post, but just in case..
What's a good not too expensive comforter or blanket for someone having night sweats or is just a hot sleeper? Like to keep it to 100 bucks or less, and I live in GA/east of Atlanta. I'll hate to see that walmart special I got for the dorm go but if I have to fix that before I get my sleep study to find out if I got sleep apnea, I have to. (Seriously, it's had a good run. 15+ years without the stuffing clumping up or it ripping up is a good run!)
Oh and no dry clean only. It has to be washable, even if I have to go to a laundromat for a oversized washer. Seriously, dry cleaning is a expense I'd rather not pay.
Have a cotton blanket right now but was having trouble last night (Well, new year's so I guess can't say much?) but hoping that relief money gets here soon so I can start my plans and quit having trouble. I am kinda planning on layering if necessary to get that Goldilocks feel that I really really want here.
A waffle-weave all-cotton blanket, sometimes called a hospital-style blanket. These are thin, not puffy or fuzzy like we're used to blankets being these days, but they soft, warm in winter, cool in the summer, and allow sweat to evaporate easily, if you should get overheated at all.
You can get them for between $30 and $75 US, and as a fellow hot sleeper, I keep one on my bed all year in NYC. Even here in the midwinter, I prefer to use two of them and a sheet over a traditional comforter or blanket. The last one, I think I just got from amazon, made of Egyptian cotton.
Good-quality cotton lasts ages and only gets softer with time. As a high-use item, it does eventually wear out, but between the ones that my mother had and my own, you can expect a good 20-30 years of use.
I’m curious to this as well. I’m freezing when I go to sleep but often wake up with night sweats.
There are plenty of posts for hot sleepers but there are so many suggestions. In addition, I’m also looking for something simple.
I actually sleep ON my bed covers and just use a throw blanket to cover me. What type of cover can I use to make things less hot? (I sleep w/ my partner). I would greatly appreciate some links (there are just so many options on reddit that it’s overwhelming)
Suggestions on the cheaper side please. I plan on progressively investing into sleeping cooler.
Thanks!
Hello, looking for cooling bedding (pillows, sheets, comforter, and blankets). My AC unit does not reach my lofted bedroom in my apartment, so I have resorted to other options like cooling bedding. Any recommendations or suggestions would be appreciated!
I'm looking for something more cooling, as I get so warm at night. My room is the warmest in the house and I've tested it several degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the living room. I have the vent blowing but it doesn't work well.
Well I have a cotton comforter but it's a bit thick and I'm thinking to swap it out. Every brand I look into seems to have pros and then there is one or several comments with major cons. Here is what I've looked into so far.
Peru Pima: This one flew under the radar and I wasn't able to find much online but the people who had them did love them. I found a few comments saying they lost their softness after a wash and began to pill.
Rest Evercool: This one has tons of controversy, not being cooling, customer service, pilling, etc. At a glance it looks perfect but I'm not inclined to buy based on price and complaints.
Aeptom Eucalyptus Lyocell Comforter: An option I found after some digging but doesn't have much to back it up.
Sijo Clima TempTune Comforter: This comforter seems to fit the bill but there are complaints of returning and customer service being a nightmare.
And then there's a lot of opinions and reviews saying bamboo, but bamboo is really rayon and bad for you, cotton is the way to go, but then that rabbit hole goes deep too :P
Having to weed out who actually enjoys their comforter, and who is a paid ad, damn! What a world we live in. I feel bad for those who are less internet-savvy.
Can anyone recommend a cooling comforter or blanket that is high quality and not super thick? (if it's thick but cooling that's fine [I'm looking for something to keep me cool]).
TLDR: I can't find a good cooling comforter. Can anyone recommend or do you have any reviews based on the brands I mentioned?
I am an extremely hot sleeper. Spending any time wrapped in a blanket on a mattress makes me sweat. What are some products and brands you absolutely swear by? Would love to sleep through the night without waking up and being overheated
Edit: I sleep in an extremely cold room. Especially in the summer. My AC is cranked. In the winter my heat is low and my windows are open. I just sleep so hot.
Chili pad.
Biggest thing for me was just ditching the comforter unless it's genuinely cold out and there's no heating. I sleep with a sheet or a very light, thin blanket, or sometimes no blankets in the summer.
And my number one rule is no layers. If I do have a comforter, I don't have a sheet. If I have a sheet, I don't have a blanket. Layers trap air between them and really up the heat. Same deal for pajamas.
Also avoid microfiber like the plague.
price doesn’t matter ill save hundreds if thats what it takes to get something that works.
temperatures here are rising and i get sick in hotter temperatures.
i prefer sleeping in extremely cold temperatures but nights here are super hot now. so what are the coldest cooling blankets i can get?
thanks for any help anyone can provide.
Hi All, I’m new here. Hoping I can get some help. I have the worst night sweats. I go to bed very cold, get all comfy in my blankets and wake up SOAKED in sweat. Over the summer, I was able to use less blankets and was fine with the sweating. The problem is now that it’s winter, I’m cold so I need the blankets. Can anyone suggest a warm blanket that won’t make me sweat?
Just from what you describe, you definitely will have a game-changing experience if you get a silk insert (doesn't really matter which brand; even the cheap ones will help you out). I used to have bamboo sheets like you and they are not cooling compared to lightweight cotton sheets (bamboo is essentially plastic so I'm not surprised at all, honestly). So I would first look into that to see if that's where the problem lays. (Honestly, anything you use as a blanket or sheet or comforter that is not linen or cotton is going to probably be plastic and plastic bedding is one of the worst heat traps you can sleep under. If you use blankets or the like that are in any way made from plastic then that's your main problem).
But, honestly, getting an all-season silk insert and a linen or cotton duvet will not only give you the weighted blanket feeling you're looking for, but actually keep you cool but comfortably warm at night---it's amazing for hot sleepers and I always promote it heavily on here because for hot sleepers it's (no joke) game-changing. They're pricey, though, so keep that in mind. My bedding setup is as follows (for reference):
-
I sleep at 72-74F in summer (and 68-72F in winter to save on money)
-
I use a lightweight sateen cotton sheet set
-
I have a linen duvet
-
A 800 fill power Down pillow with two latex pillows to 'hug' every now and again
-
I have an all-season weight silk insert (cheap from Costco at $179 but its cotton outershell crinkles a bit, but that's what happens when you cheap-out)
... And that's pretty much my bedding setup, in a nutshell. It works amazing for me and the jewel of the entire collection is my silk insert, hands-down since that puppy is the main reason I'm not sweating buckets at night since it has amazing breathability properties.
Let me know if you want to know more about silk inserts and I'll help you out in that direction, but from what you describe it sounds like you are in the same situation I was pretty much in before I completely upended my old bedding system and retooled it to the perfection it is now.
Down does not breathe. At all. You will sweat regardless of sheets.
Your best bet is to get a fitted linen sheet, so that it will at least dry reasonably fast and you won't feel as clammy and cold after you've sweat.
Searching for a cooling comforter that doesn’t trap in heat at night when I sleep. We run the apt ac temp low and have a fan going at night. I still get really hot at night and my comforter doesn’t help. Any recommendations?
Looking for a blanket for my SO, who generally sleeps hot but likes some weight. Because of that, is currently sleeping under 3 blankets at once, which obviously causes him to get hot at night 😅.
Any suggestions for quality blankets/comforters (can be weighted but open to non weighted blankets that are just heavier but do not trap heat) that others have found success with would be super helpful!!
Budget: hope to stay under $200 if possible
After posting a few months ago about upgrading my sheets, I ended up going with Cultiver linen and absolutely love my duvet cover and sheet set. With temps on the rise, I am looking to add a lightweight duvet to my bed and am looking for recommendations. So far it seems the lightweight duvets are polyfill with a cotton shell. I am currently looking at the West Elm Cooling Duvet but am open to all first-hand experiences and recommendations.
I sleep with my room very cold but I still sweat a lot at night due to a medication that I’m on. I recently switched from cotton to linen sheets and they are awesome, but I’m still getting sweaty and I think it’s because of my comforter. It is a down-alternative comforter that I received as a gift and I think the polyester material that it’s filled with is not breathable. Everyone suggests using a down comforter/duvet, but I am not comfortable using anything that comes from animals (please don’t judge me, it’s a personal choice). Does anyone have any suggestions?
I don’t necessarily sleep well as is, but I wake up several times a night either drenched in sweat or freezing. I have a quilt and top sheet currently on my bed, but I also need some sort of weight on me to help me sleep (my current setup is nowhere near heavy enough). I’m looking at a duvet possibly.
Please help! I’m so sleepy and I need some sort of relief
