Hey everyone,
I’m looking for recommendations for the best Bluetooth speaker to use in my car in 2024. I’m working with a semi-budget, so I’m hoping to find something that offers great sound quality, durability, and ease of use without breaking the bank.
If you’ve got any personal favorites or know of some hidden gems, please share your suggestions! Mainly using it in the car and in my room.
Thanks in advance!
My portable speaker just died and I'm looking for a replacement for use in my car. Budget is sub-$100. It needs to be loud enough to be heard driving at highway speeds (the car is pretty old so it can get noisy) and also sound decent. I realize nothing at this price point is going to be amazing, but something that doesn't sound harsh, distorted, or hollow would be ideal.
Right now I'm looking at the following, in no particular order:
-JBL Clip 4
-EarFun UBOOM L
-Soundcore Motion 300
-Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 3
-Sony SRS-XB100 (possibly XB13)
Review sites make them all seem like decent choices, but looking at actual user reviews gives me pause. If anyone can make a recommendation I would appreciate it, even if it's something not on the list.
I'm not interested in replacing my stereo, so please don't direct me to r/CarAV.

I am looking to spend between $2-300 in hopes of getting something decent that is loud enough to hear whilst driving with the windows down. What would you all recommend that you’ve had good experience with? Any feedback or input is appreciated!
I just bought an older car with no bluetooth or aux, and I am not that good with tech, so I can't install a new stereo. I want to buy a speaker to put in the backseat, and I need something pretty loud that is on the cheaper side.
I’m going on a road trip next month and the radio in my car blew out I’m looking for my affordable speakers for my car I was trying to find some that connected together so I can get that car speaker feel but if there is a singular one that does the trick that’s good too All I have is a JBL flip 5 and Go 3 and I need help
Hello! I'm working on restoring a car and I wanna keep the sound system original even though it sucks ass! What are some good loud Bluetooth speakers that I could pop in the trunk. Needs to be heard over wind. The car is an old T-Top!!! The max I'm willing to spend is 200 but I'd really prefer something cheaper! Im spending alot already on the car but I still wanna be able to enjoy same 80s music in my 80s car!!
My speakers in my car are shot— it’s gonna take me a while to call around and figure out how I’m gonna get those fixed, so in the meantime I just wanna get a small but great Bluetooth speaker to use for music and audiobooks and such while I’m driving. Something that won’t take up too much space in my car, provide some nice surround sound amongst car/road noise, and not crazy expensive. I’m willing to throw down like a couple hundred if it’s a really good speaker that will last a long time. All recommendations appreciated!! Let me know what you recommend or if you’ve tried something yourself! Thanks y’all!
Hello, I have a convertible with a no stereo system and I previously had a Ecoxgear Ecojourney which worked well for my needs. It was loud enough and portable so i could use it in other contexts/waterproof. It just died and I am going to need a replacement this summer. I have been looking at a lot of options like deemerbox, soundcore boom 2 plus, JBL boombox 3, w-king x 20. I am a little lost. The Ecojourney was advertised to reach 110 db which I am now thinking wasn't accurate, but I do want a speaker that is at least as loud as that was and many of these options don't reach that on RTINGS or are huge. My budget is not the primary concern, but I would like to spend as little as possible to match the performance I was getting before.
Thank you
The center console in my car doesn’t work and I’m looking for a portable speaker I can just keep in my car. I’ve been looking at the Sony Xg300, as it is on sale right now near me and just wanted to know if it’s any good.
How is this speaker for an average listener? And are there any other speakers that are significantly better for a similar price?
Some things I am looking for in a speaker is good portability, durable, can play decently loud and has good bass.
Thanks in advance.
not the best you can get for your money but it'll work.
You know jbl makes bass tubes and sony also makes car speakers that you can get for price lower than this. My xb41 sounds like a home theatre at home but in the car it sounded like trash because of all the resonance with glass wind shield and windows etc.
Hey guys, I recently bought a new car and sadly the speakers are very very trash. Like there's no fixing them without essentially replacing the whole thing in and out. So instead i've been looking at Bluetooth speakers as an alternative. I've rummaged a lot through the internet in the past 2-3 days however I've been very indecisive. A friend of mine has a JBL 310 and I got to test his out in the car, and the sound is great, however its all very packed in the middle and there's no audio coming from each side of the car which makes it annoying to listen to for longer than 5-10 minutes. All in all, I've looked at a smaller JBL like an Xtreme 3 or Ultimate Ears Hyperboom. My question is, does any one have advice on what I could take a look at as an alternative? I'm really unsure how big or small to go, my budget is anything between 150-400$. Thanks in advance.

All things considered (sound quality, bass, connectivity, design) I'm looking for the best Bluetooth Speaker, price cap of $500. Note that I am not looking for the massive JBL party boxes.
My CD player is broken so I want to listen to music thru my phone thru a Bluetooth speaker. My car is old so I don't have any aux plugins, can someone suggest something reasonably priced that would work for my situation, thank you
I’ve been messing around with Reddit data and was looking at the most recommended portable bluetooth speakers. Thought I’d share the results.
Its part of a side project of mine to tinker with Reddit data and LLMs. My goal was to create something useful for the community while levelling up my coding chops.
The idea here is to spotlight the portable bluetooth speakers that got the most love - think of it as a rough proxy to which speaker is most widely considered the best. Hopefully it is a useful data point for those overwhelmed by all the information out there.
Methodology:
I used Google and Reddit search (filtered for the past year for freshness) to source for discussions on portable bluetooth speakers. For each search term (e.g. “Best portable bluetooth speaker for cars”), I went through results by relevance until the relevance dropped below 40%. From that I got a total of 477 relevant threads and used LLMs to extract opinions and perform sentiment analysis.
To rank the models, I calculated the normalized difference and ratio between the no. of positive and negative user sentiments, and used that to determine the final score for ranking (weighted 70% to diff, 30% to ratio).
Handling and merging different model namings, brands, abbreviations etc is non trivial so a 100% LLM approach wasn’t sufficient. I did some eyeballing and manual clean up but there may still be mistakes. Let me know if you spot anything wrong or surprising.
For those interested in, the source data (i.e. comments analyzed) and individual sentiment analysis can be found on RedditRecs dot com (or google RedditRecs)
Hey everyone.
My car is a bit old and while it plays the radio from it's speakers quite well, it doesn't have the capabilities to connect to Spotify or any app that plays music of my own choice.
So since it's Prime day and there's plenty of discounts right now, I figured it would be a good time to look for a bluetooth speaker I could just throw in my car so I could listen to Spotify while driving around.
I was hoping you guys could provide me with some recommendations!
Off a few quick searches, https://www.amazon.com/Bose-SoundLink-Bluetooth-Portable-Waterproof/dp/B099TJGJ91?ref=dlx_prime_dg_dcl_B099TJGJ91_dt_sl7_4a&th=1
looks good, but I'm sure there might be better options.
Thanks!
You should really look into a Bluetooth FM transmitter instead. You plug the transmitter into the car outlet, connect your phone to it and then it broadcasts over FM radio. Select an empty channel and you can play anything from your phone through your car. There are tons of options on Amazon and far as I am aware they are all similar in performance.
I have the same issue, my car doesn’t even have a radio! I’ve just bought a soundcore motion boom off Amazon for £65 and I’m really happy with it. You could have a new system put in or get a transmitter but you’d likely want to replace your speakers eventually and it’s far less of a faff to use a BT speaker.
