in my experience bone conduction is really inconsistent atleast for my headshape most of the products dont quite sit right and I end up with constantly changing position slightly leading to muffle music volume and quality its almost like when bluetooth audio cuts out constantly, seems like you really just need some earbuds wireless or wired that fit properly the sennheiser ie200 are rather small and will work for most ear shapes and are also $150 with detachable cables and all metal build. another good shout could the be the 1more quad driver they are like $100 and are also really small you should also give memory foam eartips first before buying something new to try and see if that improves your situation cause you squish them abit put them in and let them expand to fit your eardrum could lead to a better seal better bass and might increase comfort so you wouldnt have to buy a new pair in first place they sell sets of like 8 eartips for like $10-15 for me theyre way more comfortable then the normal rubber ones Answer from Purplepickler24 on reddit.com

How do bone conduction headphones work?
Bone conduction headphones take advantage of the fact that sound is simply vibrations, directing them into the bones in your head. · These headphones use plates that sit against the cheekbones to deliver sound vibrations through the jaw and skull bone directly into the cochlea. They leave the ear canal open, which allows outside sound to still get in. · Unlike traditional headphones, bone conduction headphones allow the user to hear what’s happening in their surroundings. This makes this style of headphones a great choice for outside activities where hearing oncoming vehicles or bikes can save

r/HeadphoneAdvice on Reddit: Best bone conduction headphones for $150 or less?
October 27, 2024 -

I've been using regular old earbuds to listen to podcasts and youtube vids at my new job, but I've discovered that wearing them for hours a day, five days a week irritates the hell out of my ear canals. I have to switch ears and take breaks often, and it's boring without them.

I need something else.

What are the best bone conduction headphones I can get for $150?

I want something with good battery life and easy charging that can handle a physically active job without falling (or flying) off of your head.

Of course, more sound quality is better, but I'm not expecting too much. If it's on par with, say, the google pixel A Series buds, then I'd be impressed.

I only have experience with the Aftershokz brand, but I've had a pair since 2017 and have had a few different models. Currently on Openrun Pro. I wear them on every solo ride, run, and just doing stuff around the house/garage. Thousands of hours over the years. Some observations - Anyone that tells you these sound good is optimistic. They sound terrible. Sound quality isn't the point though. You can still totally hear your surroundings, enough to even carry on a conversation with someone - They are susceptible to wind noise. The experience is much like listing to music in your car at a reasonable volume with the windows down. You won't ear anything on fast descents or in strong headwind - "Bone Conduction" isn't exactly how they work. It is a part of it, but there's also an external speaker that you can hear because it's right next to your ear. Also people close to you can hear it. So keep that in mind. - These are not a good choice for your only pair of headphones. They aren't good in noisy situations where you don't need to be acutely aware of your surroundings. Like on a treadmill for example. Or mowing the lawn/snow blowing. I wear airpods in those situations. However they (Shokz anyway) come with earplugs for noisy situations. And with earplugs in, they actually sound better than they do without earplugs

I've got the Aftershokz Open Move. They are useless in windy conditions when listening to audiobooks. They might be OK if you're listening to music when it doesn't matter if you miss parts of a song.
