I am quite happy with Soundcore Q20i Hybrid Active Noise Canceling Headphones.(not sure if there is a newer model) The ANC works surprisingly well, Bluetooth, have a override aux cable ability, not sure why. Good battery life, quite quick USB C charging. Has microphone in for calls if needed. And they do a decent comfortable ear seal. Use it every day, for many hours and happy with it. My budget is around $100 or less, and the highest priority is noise cancellation. The headset will mostly be used for general use, listening to music, gaming, watching videos, and talking in calls. Wired with a wireless option is preferred, but not required.

The headphones will be a gift for an autistic person, need help finding something decent that will block out loud noises, any help or recommendations would be appreciated.

EDIT: Thank you for all the suggestions. Ended up going with the Soundcore Life Q30. She loved it because of the transport mode. She fiddled around with the EQ settings a bit to get the exact sound she wanted but aside from that the headphones were perfect :)

Hi,

I am looking to buy a pair of noise cancelling headphones for travel and work. I know there are the Bose that are around 250. But I was curious if anyone had any recommendations for something better 50-100?

Update: I was able to find the Bose quiet comfort 35 series 2 on Facebook marketplace and they are awesome. Thank you to everyone who suggested all the different brands I hope this will serve as helpful to anyone in the future.

A friend had gifted me with air pods a year ago, and I was amazed by the noise cancelling function. Unfortunately, the air pods have caused a ringing in my ears so I had to stop using them. I can’t afford anything like the Beats, and would prefer an over ear option and the ones that can connect to my Apple TV so I can stay focussed on TV when I’m washing dishes or the HVAC is on. Conversely, if anyone has had experience with fiddling with the air pod settings as to not give me tinnitus- I’m listening. ;)

The best budget headphones are the Anker Soundcores. They have different models at a few price points with some different features, but even the basic $100 ones are good. I’ve had a pair for about 7 years, I think. They’ve probably been upgraded during that period. The caveat is that I’m not expecting high-end sound quality for music out of them. It’s good enough, especially for streaming quality. The higher end models, still cheaper than most, may be better.

I genuinely recommend investing in good headphones. I've always a budget/discount person and spent so much money on low end earbuds/headphones that didn't last long and weren't comfortable to wear all day. I finally got my Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II headphones in 2021 for $200 refurbished. It was easily the best $200 I ever spent and they frankly changed my life. I wore them for thousands of hours before the active noise canceling gave out in September, three years later. I dived into my savings immediately to upgrade to the recently released Bose QuietComfort. Beats are not great for noise canceling at their price point. You'd want to look into Bose or Sony (Quiet Comfort and WX are the respective flagship models). Black Friday is coming up and you can some great deals. Seriously, I cannot recommend paying a premium price for top of the line headphones enough, but my go-to favorite headphones under $100 are the Anker Soundcore Life Q30. Again, I'd wait a couple weeks for Black Friday/Cyber Monday discounts, since headphones are one of the hottest items and get big discounts.

"Budget" doesn't communicate anything solid. I HIGHLY recommend the Sony WH-MX1000xm3 or xm4. Noise cancelling tech varies greatly between brands, and as much as I hate Sony as a company in general, I have to hand it to them, they have the best noise canceling tech by a large margin. Those will run you $350. That's all for the noise canceling tech. The headphones themselves are great too, nothing particularly special but good solid clear headphones with a good smooth frequency response, good bass response, fantastic battery life, and the microphone works well for calls. There's a reviews site https://www.rtings.com/ that does fantastic reviews on noise cancelling headphones. Here's a link to that section. I like them because they are very scientific, they measure a huge variety of headphones in exactly the same way, and then they give their measurements directly to you to judge for yourself. They do also write review articles like the landing page I linked, but the data is available. In particular, one thing they do is put the headphones on a dummy head model with microphones in its ears, play some ambient recorded noise on overhead speakers, and let you listen to what that noise sounds like while you're wearing each set. Here's that section . I recommend hitting " Customize Table " to narrow things down to over-ear headphones that scored well on noise canceling. Also note: You'll want to try reversing the sort on that table and listening to one of the lower-scoring headphones for comparison. It's the quickest way I found to hear the original audio that's being cancelled, so you can tell what the headphones were doing. If you listen to different brands, what you'll probably find is most brands sound louder than the Sonys, most let sharp clinks and impact sounds through much more than the Sony do, and many of those also have strange artifacts due to the active cancelling circuit. The Sony headphones also have features that are really essential when wearing something that effective, that they don't discuss much. I have a set of the Sony (after doing all this shopping a few years ago) and it has three modes. Noise canceling, ambient sound control, and disabled / passive. Passive is best for a quiet room when you just wanted to listen to headphones. Noise cancelling is obvious. What's really amazing is the "ambient sound control" mode. It intelligently cancels out steady drone sounds like fans, engines, machinery, but allows voices and other interesting sounds through, with a compressor effect so they are easier to hear over a loud environment. It takes a minute to "learn the room" but it makes conversations in a loud room effortless. So, those are worth every last penny. They changed my life working in an open office setting. But they are $350. I will say this, I know multiple people who purchased $150 noise cancelling headphones from a different brand, listened to my Sony pair, and within a few weeks had bought their own and thrown out their Sennheiser / etc. other brand headphones. I say go through the list on RTings and check out the differences, compare prices. I REALLY recommend dropping the cash on those though, if you can. The difference is not subtle.

I'm looking for some over ear headphones with the following requirements:

  • under 200 us dollars

  • Great sound quality and noice canceling (I know they don't usually go hand in hand, but still)

  • wired listening (plus if you can still use ANC features, but it's not really a necessity)

  • Good app capabilities

I'll be using these headphones for listening to music and watching movies, with the ocasional session of gaming.

I've seen a lot of options but they don't seem to have a consistent reviews across different tech or audiophile websites or YouTube channels.

I'm open for any suggestions. Thanks in advance

so i finally started looking into the best noise cancelling headphones 2025 options… but wow, prices jumped.

i’m not chasing absolute top-tier ANC, just something that cuts the droning enough so i can work without hearing my neighbor’s blender every morning.

also trying to avoid headsets that weigh like small helmets. i made that mistake once; never again.

curious what frugal-friendly picks people landed on this year. anything that balances decent ANC + comfort + not costing my grocery budget?

open to suggestions, even used/refurb if that’s been a good route for anyone.

Suggestions please! I start my first year in the US next month and would like some over the ear headphones I can wear for extended periods of time comfortably. Doesn’t have to have the best sound as I am mostly looking for good noise cancellation and comfort. I have EarPods but they tend to bother me if I leave them in for extended periods. Would like to stay $200 & under, way under if possible.

Thank you for any suggestions!!

im EXTREMELY sensitive to noises. they dont even have to be loud, if the noise is even slightly aggravating or annoying i have a meltdown. and i have a single father who works in a dead trade so we are very very very tight on money, like literally all the time. my dad is threatening to not take me in public or to family gatherings anymore because i have a meltdown almost every time we go out. but he said he'll buy me some headphones to help as long as they are affordable, so not much more than like 80-90 dollars. also i physically cant use ear buds bc i have super small ear canals, even the smallest size of the little rubber caps dont fit in my ears.

Hey everyone,

I am looking for the best budget noise cancelling (wireless) headphones. I know I'm not going to get the best quality noise cancelling in budget headphones but I would like to try to find the best options out there. It would be great if it has a built in microphone (I'm often in Discord calls), and since I live in The Netherlands it would be great if wind noises are being kept to a minimum too. The ones I found so far are: 1MORE SonoFlow Pro HQ51 Wireless / Sony WH-CH720N / The Sennheiser HD 450BT / Rolfstone Focus Pro / JBL Tune 770NC.

Budget: max. 150 eu.

Thanks in advance :)

A friend of mine is extremely scared of planes and wants noise cancelling headphones for her trip, could be either iem or over ear as long as it lasts the flight (Brazil to California, probably quite long but usually with connection). Note that she will be buying these in Brazil, so consider 100 USD closer to 80 USD because of taxes and that are available here (AliExpress or international brand like Sony and Anker)

Google recommend the Anker soundcore life q30 which fits nicely in the budget and seems to offer good anc that will last the flight. Was also wondering about iems with those triple tips that seem to work well, but I don't know much about.

I just need something that can block out my roommate's obnoxious gaming clicks and phone calls, the cheaper the better. I don't need anything professional, but idk which models have effective noise cancellation with the compromise of poor audio quality...

I got this Sennheiser noise cancelling headphone and it appears to just turn the volume up...

Speaking of volume, I usually listen on low volume, so I don't want to just get a non-noise-cancelling headphone and turn up the volume.

Hi I'm looking to buy a pair of over the ear headphones for my noisy office, but I'm reading a lot of mixed opinions for budget noise cancelling pairs. I would use them almost exclusively wired, but I don't mind if they can be used wireless as well. At home I use Sennheiser HD 558 which I love, but the open back would be terrible for my work space. I have a budget of $100 or less. What would you suggest?
