So having a Best Buy account now is almost useless?

After the new changes, it looks like rewards are going to be virtually non-existent and point banking is gone unless you get a credit card.
At this point, the only reason I can see to keep a Best Buy account active (and use it every purchase) is to track your purchase habits. (Or have total tech or a Best Buy credit card you use, but many people have better credit card offers anyways.. so basically just total tech).
I’ve spent a lot of time trying to funnel all my purchases through Best Buy for the reward program. It’s a bittersweet transition. On one hand I can just go pick up the item at the cheaper location with no hassle and on the other hand I’ve become a shopper who loses brand loyalty and just buys from the cheapest option. It also gets me into the store less. If I have to make multiple trips now with no incentive to purchase from Best Buy for the rewards, I will just have target price match Best Buy to save a trip.
I am a total tech member, but it’s kind of turning me off with how long things are booked out. If I’m paying for a service, I prefer to get it done within two weeks and not two months out. I get all your services are booked, but it becomes less of a selling point to pay for that service. I don’t have a good option for you to turn my $200 into more employees and more appointments, so it just becomes a “would I rather just install it myself and get it two months sooner”.
To my wife’s enjoyment, target might be a new contender for a bulk of my purchases. (Standard 90 day return policy and a rewards program of their own, albeit not as good as my elite plus was).
In an effort to save money, I think you cut a lot of the brand loyalty arguments. Total tech was definitely worth getting IF I was spending $3500+ a year anyways, but becomes increasingly less worth it as more purchases make it to other retailers reward programs.
I received an email that a purchase had been made from my Best Buy account today. When I logged in to my BestBuy account, I saw there was in fact a purchase for a $2k Macbook and it was picked up by someone today at the store.
.
The credit card used had my name on it, but it was not one of my credit cards and it had a different address than mine.
.
The purchase shows a name for the person that picked up the order, along with a phone number and email address (Who knows if the info is real though). Doesn't Best Buy require you show an ID when picking up an order?
.
I froze my credit and filed an FTC report. Police said they can't do anything until I show money was used from my account or my credit report shows a fraudulent account/charge.
.
Nothing has shown up on my credit reporting yet. Is it because it takes many days / weeks for a new account or charges to show up on the credit report?
.
Any ideas on what happened? Did someone open a credit card in my name and access my Best Buy account to make the purchase (or vice versa)?
