When I first joined BBY years ago I applied online and the store’s back office person (a defunct position now) called and set up a phone interview with them and then I came in store for an in person interview with the GM. That GM was amazing (not all of them are) and really looked out for me after hiring and helped me a lot. I think now most, if not all, of the stores just tell walk ins to apply online unless they are doing a hiring event. More on reddit.com

Best Buy Corp has decided to bank thier future on memberships and credit cards. Stores have goals, per day, per month, per quarter ect to meet. All of these metrics are tracked heavily by corporate. In addition to sales, these metrics determine store labor and other things. GMs are held accountable for meeting those metrics (and bonuses are probably tied to it as well). Unfortunately we are in a declining economy, where people either have bad credit or shrinking the amount of credit they carry to decrease splurge spending, and are subscription weary/can't afford another one. On top of that, it's a bad business model since you have a limited growth potential (once everybody has a card and a membership, then what are you going to do?) So stores are getting desperate to meet metrics as they face an uphill battle. More on reddit.com

Better website is bby.me/apps it has the most up to date employee app and the queue app to download. Took me a lot of digging around to get to. You can still do it via the old way but it’s CUMBERSOME.

Also, the QR code through learning network doesn’t work for me anymore, thus during downtime today with curbside pickup was digging around like a gold miner during the gold rush in SF.
