Best Buy has the Dyson V15 Detect Extra priced at $549 if you are a Total Member. I have seen that Costco will have the V15 less than this on Black Friday, but I do not have a Costco within 100 miles of me, so I’m not a Costco member.
Two questions:
Is $549 ok for the V15? I do not need the vacuum right now, so I could wait until Black Friday or Cyber Monday for deals.
Is the V15 ok for 2000sq ft home with at least 75% hard surfaces? It would not be my only vacuum, but definitely the nicest one I would own. I think the Gen 5 may be more useful, but I do not think I could justify the price difference.
Thanks.
I got the V15 Best Buy yesterday for $499 (now it’s $549). Costco has it today for $499. Which one is a better deal? Are they the same vacuum with slightly different attachments?
If they are the same exact vacuum, I’m inclined to return to Best Buy and buy from Costco for the customer service alone.

I'm so mad at myself! Last night, I was in Best Buy and I saw the V15 Detect Extra on sale and thought the price seemed really good. $500. But then I pulled out my phone and searched for more info on the V15 Detect vs. the other Dyson models, discovered that there were a ton of different versions of it and that I needed to do more research, took a pic of the sales sign, and left. Where did the research lead me? To the decision that it was in fact a good deal and that I should go back and buy it. So I went back and it's a hundred dollars more expensive today because the sale ended. The sign I took a pic of last night even said that the sale would end on 12/20. I just didn't notice because it was in smaller print.
Just wanted to vent my frustration. Hope the sale comes back again soon.
Was hoping someone could help me in figuring out if there's any differences between the vacuums in the post title?
I can't seem to find a model number for the Dyson website model of the V15 it just says "Detect Absolute" and it's $599, the BestBuy is Detect Extra 448709-01 ($630) and Costco 448182-01 is $559.
If they're essentially the same thing, I'd just pick the Costco one, but if there's any "major" difference that would be good to know as well.
Mostly wood looking vinyl flooring and a couple carpets. Handling mostly dog hair pickup, not being used for deep cleaning, but to keep the house tidy before the sunday deep vacuuming.
Hi all,
Looking to upgrade our V10. After 5 years with 3 kids, a dog, and a cat, it’s slowly dying.
I think we’ve settled on the V15 for our next replacement. Let me know if there are any decent deals to watch for.
Thanks!
Membership costs $49.99, so total price will be $499.98 before taxes.
Right now there's several deals going on for the V15.
Dyson has the V15 Detect Absolute for $599. https://www.dyson.com/vacuum-cleaners/cordless/v15/detect-absolute-hepa-gold
Costco has the V15 Detect Total for $560. https://www.costco.com/dyson-v15-detect-total-clean-extra-cordless-stick-vacuum.product.4000177472.html
And lastly Amazon has V15 Detect Complete for $619.99 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CDN7F736/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1
I've read that the Amazon deal has an older head. But what about the Costco deal vs buying directly from Dyson?
I am about to get this product, but the listing on the official Canadian website says:
"Only at Dyson: HEPA filtration, built-in dusting and crevice tool, and exclusive gold colourway"
The one on BestBuy Canada doesn't have similar feature. I was wondering if these two products are basically the same or the one on official website has better filter?
The on on on BestBuy is 50 dollars cheaper. I don't know which one to get!

So this past weekend I decided to take the hit and buy the Dyson V15 extra from Best Buy after my V11 animal died on me a few months ago. I also have the V8 which still works for me and is an absolute workhorse but it’s simply not enough for my 3 story house so I decided to purchase the V15 detect extra.
First off, I love the laser fluffy head that it comes with which enables me to clean spots I normally miss and I believe the Motörhead it comes with does a better job on low pile carpets and rugs than the V11 torque head did-however I have also run into more problems than I expected.
For starters (and this isn’t the end of the world to me) the build quality feels very cheap to me and a step down from my V11..like they used cheaper plastic perhaps due in part to many units being produced during the COVID lockdown. Not a dealbreaker but when you pay a premium price for something, you expect higher quality material.
I also feel as though the Motörhead it comes with is a significant step in the wrong direction from the V11 torque head when it comes to vacuuming deeper carpets. I’m not sure if it has to do with the design or the new anti-tangle technology but it doesn’t seem to be nearly as effective at deep cleaning. It’s also frustrating that it will only take on deeper carpets while on eco mode..,which only naturally makes it less effective at cleaning.
I also noticed (and this makes no sense to me) that while it does a good job cleaning (especially hardwood floors) I don’t get the same sense of relief I get from my V8 or V11 allergy wise. While I understand cordless stick vacuums aren’t always the best solution for allergy/asthma sufferers-my V8 and V11 have been more than enough for me in the past. It’s almost as if it’s not hepa certified or legitimately hepa like those of the past. I’m only basing this off of how I feel after using it in comparison with my previous 2 models and it’s noticeable.
Has anyone else experienced any of these issues and does anyone have any recommendations on what may be a better option for me moving forward? Should I stick with it? Try to get another V11 animal? Go for the V12 Slim? Maybe look at the Gen 5? Thanks
I'm seeing that Dyson V15 is rated as the best cordless vacuum (https://vacuumwars.com/vacuum-wars-best-cordless-vacuums/), but most Redditors say to avoid Dyson due to durability/longevity concerns. However, if I buy from Costco, I'm guessing that concern is less concerning.
What cordless vacuum should I buy instead?
Are the newer Gen5Outsize and Gen5Detect significantly better?
I am confused between both the versions as they are coming out to be the same price.
My primary use is both on hardwood floor and carpet with carpet being the majority. I would also like to use it for my car as well as dusting off the ceiling fan.
Would like to know which accessories are provided with both.
The Costco version comes with 3 more accessories that would probably be useful for cleaning your car's interior. The Best Buy version comes with a lighted crevice tool.
Not seeing where they're the same price, though. Best Buy has it for $499. As far as I can tell, Costco is still selling theirs for $699 and their ad (at least, the one I have) shows it going on sale for $599 later next week.
Buy from Costco. They will let you return if any problems. Save your receipt, but if you lose it, they can look it up under your account.
For example is the warranty for a longer period of time if I purchase direct from Dyson?
I know it’s expensive, but I’m willing to overlook that. My biggest concern is will my hair get wrapped around the brush heads. I have very long hair which tends to tangle in vacuums (to the point that I have to cut it out with scissors). Are there any vacuums immune to this?
We want to buy a good, big, handheld vacuum, Dyson seems like the obvious choice. Only drawback is the price, for us, buying it would be an investment. We've looked at many reviews and there doesn't seem to be any one answer, some break down in two years, some never had a problem for multiple years, some can get destroyed by sucking up even just a little bit of water. So is a Dyson really worth it? We'd much rather get one for 500$, not a 700$. But if we do that, will it break down easily after a year or two or will it last at least four years?
I'm sorry if I'm missing anything obvious, it's the first time in many years that were buying a vacuum, let alone a Dyson, an area that we have zero prior experience with
Hello, I've been researching and reading about different model vacuums, and I understand the pros/cons of corded/bags vs. Cordless/bagless... But I am set on getting a:
Stick Vacuum
Cordless
The two vacuums I was set on were the Dyson V11 Torque Drive and the Dyson V15+.. They SEEMED to be the best, but I could just be falling for marketing / shilled user reviews, as I did see a test that showed they didn't have as much suction as some other similar brands.
So my question is.... What is better than these models? Because the cost / availability right now is giving me time to second guess and research a little more.
My use case is a cramped 2 bedroom apartment. This would be my primary vacuum. I don’t have space for more than 1 vacuum.
Is the v15 worth the extra $300? Is refurbished a bad idea? Or should I get out of my comfort zone and get that Miele vacuum on Amazon for $280?
Had a original ball that stopped working, and had a v7 and I like the stick but the suction on the stick was horrible and I returned it.
Looking into an animal 3 but would like the v15, problem is the 220 suction power on v15 I'm afraid it wouldn't use it. From what I'm being told the v15 "detects" how much suction it needs to use. I'm afraid it will just use lower suction most of the time, something I can just buy in an v8 or v10 🤷♀️
Pretty much what the title says. Ive been seing this price for the last 3 years while still hanging on to my DC14 from 2016 ( maybe older) but never bit the bullet. Is this price worth in 2025? I do really need a vaccum ASAP and I would like a cordless one this time
Hey guys I'm thinking of getting the dyson v15 and just wondering anyone here have it? And is it really worth the money
