May 30, 2018Should I buy a Casio CTK-3550 Portable Keyboard or keep looking?
The Casio is ok for starting off, to see if you will like piano. Because it only has 61 keys, and the keys aren’t weighted, you won’t be able to develop much technique.
For a first digital keyboard, I recommend the Yamaha P45 (or P71, which is the amazon exclusive version). It’s full size, weighted, and you’ll be able to learn from it for a couple of years. You can see more digital keyboards on my blog: https://bestsheetmusiceditions.com/best-digital-keyboards/

So lately I have gotten invested in pianos and I would like to know what is for YOU the best digital piano/keyboard. I don't have a lot of space in my room so I can't buy the wooden pianos (and they would be a little heavy to move!). SO I have been wondering what was YOUR best/ or what is your best digital piano/keyboard you had? You can recommend any video, review or your own best digital piano/keyboards you had. I would love to hear your suggestions. I know the budget says 1k but if you know one that is a little pricier I won't mind... (Same for the cheaper one!). I know I should probably look at the "there are no stupid questions" post... but I really want to know your suggestions and experiences with those keyboards/digital pianos... (also an 88 key piano would be nice because I won't run into problems with any kind of score that exists.... I think...)

this is gonna be a weird answer but it’s worth exploring: arturia keylab 88 (specifically MK1 if you can find them, used like $400 but new still uses same keybed) the caveat: it’s MIDI only. if you have a macbook or other laptop i highly recommend keyscape. the combination program and controller costs maybe $800 all together but wow. i am blown away. the beauty is in the arturia keybed which is produced by Fatar, a well-known italian organ company from back in the day source: i am a lifelong concert pianist and music producer. i’ve played them all from nord to yamaha. i grew up on beautiful yamaha and steinway babygrands. the feel and dynamic expression is unparalleled. i’ve eliminated all of my wrist problems as well as anyone i’ve put onto the system you don’t need to be incredibly tech savvy just well enough to how to install and run a program but i’m telling you. nothing comes even close to not even the 5k yamahas. nothing
