I've seen open box for ps5 avail. The prices are dropped, makes me very skeptical. What's it mean exactly

For 300 dollars was wondering if it is worth it to save 150 for this or if I should just buy full price. Also wondering if anyone has any experiences with best buy open box items

Does anyone have any experience with Best Buy open box controllers for PS5? They barely seem to go on sale so I was thinking of copping an open box but idk how reliable they are.

Should I buy a new open-box ps5 for $400 or one that is used for $350, this is all on the secondhand marketplace. The open-box ps5 is practically new and has been used maybe once. The one that is $350 has been used consistently every day for at least 3-4 hours for a year. Thoughts? Does the price difference justify buying the cheaper one?

Wasn’t sure if it was best to update my original post or make a new one. Recieved my open box Midnight Black PS Portal from Best Buy today, there was some finger prints on the back of it, but other than that it’s in complete working order. I went to Astros Playroom & did the controller demo to make sure all the buttons were working 😂. It has now gone up from 169.99 to 178.99, but definitely still recommend picking it up from there if you’re trying to save a little money on it, covers the tax at least. I also liked getting it from Best Buy because I have the Total Protection Plan, so it’s covered for 2 years if a stick or anything stops working on me.

Seems like it would be common sense, but just a heads-up to those of you purchasing a shiny new PS5 Pro console in the future to pay attention to the box.

When I purchased mine from Best Buy and proceeded to check-out at the counter, they presented me with a box that had the tape at the top cut. I inquired why this was the case, and the associate couldn’t give me a straight answer and started inspecting the contents of the inside piece by piece. The controller had scuffs on it, as did the console itself. Cables weren’t neatly tied. This thing was clearly used and returned. I said that this was unacceptable, and they needed to find me a unit in the back that was factory sealed and untampered with, or I will purchase one somewhere else. I was given a freshly-sealed box within a matter of minutes and was on my way.

Not saying this wasn’t an honest mistake, but I wouldn’t put it past some of these retailers to pass off an open-box unit as if it were new, charging people full-sticker and hoping they won’t notice. I did. Hopefully now, you will too.

Hi. I'm interested in getting a ps5 and FB marketplace seems a bit to scammy for my liking. I'm looking to by a refurbished good or excellent for the console and then an extra controller same condition. Are the refurbished ps5's good on best buy apart from a fee scratches? And if I get a refurbished controller, will it have stick drift? I'm in canada if that matters. Thanks

how are your experiences with open box from best buy? is this worth the savings ($200)

So I just bought the open box “excellent” PS5 for $369. I was wondering if anybody also got this and how their experience was. I have gotten both my TVs open box and I love them. I’ve never had them shipped though. The reviews seem very fake with sprinkles of bad experiences. I’m just curious if they actually ship it in just the manufacture packaging or they put it in a box. Most people are complaining about the Fortnite code missing but for $130 off I’m not too worried about that. Thanks for any insight!

Update: PS5 was in the packaging without any protective film on the console or controller. It was shipped in an actual box though thankfully. SURPRISINGLY the Fortnite code was in there and it worked lol. Console looks great. Glad I lucked out.

If you remember someone saying they got a steal of the century bc they got a ps5 for 386 dollars (It was me) like a week ago then here's the update:

So, first things first the ps5 was literally like brand new no scratches no signs of damage at all! The controller even came 100 percent charged which I want expecting. The game voucher for spiderman 2 was intact and It is downloading as I am writing this, although it did not come with a mic my ps4 mic will do just fine. Overall I definitely think this was a massive steal and hella props to best buy for being the only store that can sell you a basically new ps5 slim disc spiderman bundle for $386 overall 5/5 stars for this one.

I found a ps5 , open box excellent at for 360, base price is 450. It seems like a good deal but every time I’ve bought a used console; the controller has stick drift and there’s some underlying issue like the internet not working or something.

For around the past month, my store has been receiving PlayStation products with broken seals. It’s not EVERY one but, a good amount of them… it’s probably not a huge deal in the grand scheme but we’ve had multiple disgruntled customers who don’t believe our explanation. is this a universal experience or does anyone have insight on why this is happening out of nowhere lol

Excited to pick up my brother's PS5. We pointed out the broken seal and the bottom showed like someone attempted to open it from the bottom. Employee was like 🤗

I got mine on sale for $499, open box, after gift cards I paid only $220 tax in. In Canada it doesn’t give the option to pick the quality (excellent, good, fair) so I wasn’t sure what kind of condition it would be in and there were none available to be previewed in store. Upon opening the box, i seen it came with the original box and that itself was in literally perfect condition. When I unboxed the unit itself it literally looks brand new. No scuffs or scratches etc. I went to register it and it’s good for 2 years so I’m not sure if this was ever used! I’m so happy and excited to get started :) just wanted to share my open box experience in case anyone was curious about getting one!
