BestBuy and the joy of living in Quebec
how do you order a gpu from best buy when you live in quebec?
Why can't Best Buy ship GPUs to Québec?
Best locations in Montreal suburbs to buy a house
how do you order a gpu from best buy when you live in quebec? is there any sorts of workaround?
I'm just like everybody, tryna get myself a gpu, and it pains me everytime I get a discord notification for a best buy restock, which seems to be the retailer that gets stock the most often in Canada. None of the gpu's except EVGA's can be shipped here it seems.
From what I understand, the products that they cannot ship here from e. g. Nvidia, MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, Zotac, Lenovo, Dell, etc... don't respect Chapter 7 ; article 51 of the Charter of the French language in Québec that states " Every inscription on a product, on its container or on its wrapping, or on a document or object supplied with it, including the directions for use and the warranty certificates, must be drafted in French. ". I'm not discussing the morality of the law, simply the application of it.
So, there are many illogical things going on. First of all, why can things be bought but not shipped in Québec? Like this mousepad for example. I could literally order it for pickup right now in Brossard.

Another thing, I bought a monitor a few months ago on sale from Best Buy Canada, the Asus TUF VG27AQ, which is still available, you can get it shipped to your home. The thing is, not a word of French on the packaging. I'm not complaining, but it seems a bit inconsistent and makes me believe article 51 isn't the law preventing them from shipping stuff here, even if I know it's related to Québec's legislature and laws on French.

Finally, other businesses don't seem to have a problem shipping things from their province or the US over to Québec the way Best Buy does. Canada Computers, Memory Express, Amazon, Newegg, AMD, etc... None of them seem to abide by the law the way Best Buy does, (if we can call it that)
Also, I'm aware of the fact that Québec has stricter consumer protection laws than other provinces. I am not a law student, I don't necessarily want to read the entirety of the Consumer Protection Act. But even then, it doesn't explain the fact that they ship and don't ship certain stuff based on a mysterious criteria. If that was the problem you would think they just wouldn't ship anything here.
So, if anybody has an answer as to why those products in particular can't be shipped yet bought here in Québec, maybe more knowledgeable on Canadian/Québec legislature, please enlighten me. I'm slightly salty about the fact that I can't obtain a founder's edition :/
