Hello,
I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on buying a refurbished MacBook from Best Buy?
I know buying from Apple would be ideal, but I found a deal at Best Buy that’s about $200 cheaper than Apple and only a year older.
I’ll be using the laptop predominately for schoolwork, so it doesn’t have to be amazing, just functional.
This may be the wrong subreddit to post this on but any help is appreciated.

The refurbished M1 Air from Apple is a much better deal than that MacBook Pro from Best Buy. That Pro only has a 128GB SSD, and it has a potentially unreliable butterfly keyboard. I'd avoid those keyboards if I were you.

Apple one for sure. I wouldn’t buy any mac with intel CPUs since Apple is rapidly phasing out support for intel macs. Also, 128GB storage is a big no no in 2023.

Hi so I’m a high school senior who’ll be graduating soon and hopefully going off to college ! I’ve been looking to get a macbook that I could afford since I work but I don’t want to go crazy and spend so much money so i’m on a budget that will be doing payments. I have a friend recently started going to college as well and she got a refurbished one who’s had it for a couple weeks already and has no issues; small dent in a corner but no actual issues internally. she ordered this one:

Take a look at the Apple Refurbished site, their machines have full factory warranty and are eligible for AppleCare. And they are truly just like new.

Neither of those is a good deal, but if you must pick one of these then you should pick the second one. There's a lot more of a difference between them than just the storage. The first one is a 2019 model, which has a notoriously unreliable butterfly keyboard. The second one is a 2020 model, which is much more reliable. I've seen used M1 MacBook Airs for less than these though, and that would be a much better choice overall.
