I've moved to VS code for its big support for extensions and themes, I downloaded C++ extensions by Microsoft, but it consumes somewhere about 400mb at idle. I uninstalled that extension and I'm finding for a new one, what extensions would you recommend for me? CodeBlock doesn't use that much tho
I'm starting to find my way back into C++ development and I would like to use VS Code to write my code.
I was wondering how your setups look like, extension-wise. For example I heard, that clangds Intellisense is superior to Microsofts C++ extension. Do I have to install both and activate/deactivate features between them? Do you know about a useful extension that I didn't think of?
For example yesterday I was looking for an integration of cppcheck into VS Code and found out about C/C++ Advanced Lint, which allows for this feature.
In many of these lists where people talk about VS Code extensions it feels like the tools are either gimmicky/ doesn't fit into daily work, or are paid services.
So I wonder if you guys have any tools that you enjoy in your daily work?
I can start and share Color Highlight which highlights colors in your documents, with their color. It's just simple and neat.
Hello everyone,
I am keen on programming, I am studying AI so I have a lot of programmation to do on python and C++. I have used VSCode for 2 years but just recently I thought that I should use extensions more often. Therefore, I would like to have your best recommendations concerning VSCode extensions to enhance my efficiency in programming.
PS: Don't say me Copilot ( I try to avoid it)
.NET developers who use vscode. Which extensions increase productivity? many recommended c# dev kit, but I didn't like it very much.
only extensions I know of is just C#, vscode-explorer-solution.
I'm learning C# and for class I am using Visual Studio, so that is what I'm used to. However I'd like to switch to VS Code for my personal projects. What extensions, aside from C# dev kit, would you suggest for programming in C# for VS Code? I've got a few in mind but apart from looking up C# in the extension menu I don't know what else to look at.
Hello, I have just tried C# Dev Kit from Microsoft and it's total s***. It was giving me fake errors about my Interfaces not existing as well as some variables. I have deleted it after just 20 minutes. I have recently started my journey with C# and currently doing my first project in that language. I am open to your recommendations
Edit. I am using Linux Ubuntu, not Windows
Hey everyone! My name is Tarik Brown and I am a software engineer at Microsoft who works on the C/C++ extension for VS Code. After looking online a bit I found there was no video that just broke down all of the C/C++ Language Productivity features that are actually supported in VS Code. If anyone is looking for a video that breaks down the niche language features for VS Code like Inlay Hints or Code Folding, check out this video and let me know what you think! https://youtu.be/z4-1SRW-z6A
Trying to learn more about the best extensions out there. Which ones do you consider your personal favorites or which have made the biggest difference for you? It may be a language-specific extension or something universally useful.
Long time C# programmer here, but I'm doing a project this time on Mac. I'm using VS Code with the official C# extension from Microsoft and it does the job well enough, but I'm curious what other extensions have proven useful for other C# programmers on this platform.
VSCode is the only IDE i used since the beginning of my vibecoding journey. It allows me to see the code and terminal output in real time, and i'm actually learning. It's also proven to be much cheaper than what other people are using with their no-code ides.
Is anyone else using VSCode as your main IDE? What tools, tricks, tips, and extensions would you recommend?
I've seen a lot of extensions and they never cease to amaze me. I'm curious to see which ones you know.
I'm working on setting up a VSCode profile for my team's on-boarding document and was curious what the community likes to use.
