Which brand would you recommend for a general-use printer for home-office use?

Looking to get a solid printer for home office, something that is easy to get ink for, ink won’t dry out fast and is under $500.
Thank you any help/suggestions?
I'm currently going to get an inkjet printer for work, and although I've resisted it before, I have to say that inkjet printers have really good color levels.
I'm currently debating between Canon and Epson, and since I've only been exposed to the CanonPIMAX series and don't know much about the other series, can anyone recommend some cost-effective models for me?
I have a higher need for print quality and would like the printer to be able to hold various types of paper. But my budget is not too big, is there any good third-party brands or cartridge discounts for ink cartridges?

The benefit they have over others is they have replaceable print heads and most importantly replaceable waste ink maintenance tanks.
All printers spit out excess ink onto pads that will brick your printer once it’s full. If you have a maintenance tanks that’s replaceable you simply throw the old one and buy the new part. Same thing for clogged print heads.
Just looking for the best quality, sharpest, professional etc, that will fit into a home office. Would like a touchscreen, canon app and WiFi. Don't care about price or speed. There's just so many Pixma options, even consider a Maxify. Just the best image quality. TIA.
I am not a expert in printers. As a IT person i am required to hate them
I do proffesional photography. Sometimes i need to print my photographs. I usualy have it done via a friend of mine who runs a print shop and gets me some amazing looking photographs for cheap.
I am not looking for something for pro use. I want something to print and fill my photo frames. I want 2 printers
A4 desktop printer for photos. Print speed does not matter. Quality and reliabilty does. I also want something with cheap ink (not ink cartriges) to save on printing. Can be anything really. Bellow 500$
Small photo printer. I used a xiaomi ZINK one for some time before giving it because i didn't like how small the photos were. Is there a canon one that works with 10x15cm photos? It does not have to be portable but compact. And if it does not exist then maybe i will just stick to one desktop printer.
I’m mainly looking for a home printer for school but can’t decide between these 3 brands
Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask about the best printer to buy.
Yesterday, one of my hard drivers stopped working suddenly for no reason, and all the data on it got erased. Thankfully, I have a backup for all the data, and I didn't end up losing anything, but this is what got me thinking. Digital media can be lost much more easily than traditional media. This is the reason why I came here today to ask for your help to recommend a high-quality printer.
My usage will be only for preserving photos that I took with my Canon camera. (Canon EOS 2000D, 800D, R)
The size of the prints is no larger than A4 paper. Also, I will be printing 2000+ photos so, I will be buying a lot of ink cartridges and don't want to be searching everywhere for an ink cartridge for a printer model that gets discontinued after 1 year or so.
(No limit to budget)
i currently own a epson xp-225 which is donkeys old and is falling to bits. so i’m looking to replace it.
i don’t need anything fancy, the only things i’d mainly be using it for is printing off vinted labels and the occasional document. preferably i want it to be able to connect to my macbook air or at least my phone, essentially wirelessly.
so which one is more ideal? also any other recommendations (that won’t break the bank) would be great. thanks!
Thinking of a new Canon Laser Printer. I’m a bit confused on if newer is better.
MF451dw vs MF642cdw and maybe MF741CDW.
Is the color more expensive to operate? or can I just print using black toner when I don’t need the color, so its not really more expensive?
Based on my good experience with Canon Lasers, I expect them to laser a long time and would be willing to splurge for the color.
Hi there,
I am considering to buy a Canon printer which is cheaper than a Brother/HP Printer. Is it good choice because I'm on a budget and I heard that you can use OEM ink bottles to fill up the cartridge's and you will save more money and there are other tricks e.g. to override the printer. Canon Pixma is also a 3 in 1 printer so you can really do anything on it.
Am I making a right choice?
What are your experiences and please recommend me any models of Canon Pixma?
Any Suggestion's
If you do then that would help!
Kind Regards!
Hi Printers community -- I'm in the market for a b&W laser multifunction printer, and am pretty well narrowed down to Canon or Brother because they seem like the most reliable manufacturers. Essentially the only three factors I care about are:
Reliability (I want to be able to count on it to just print & scan, with every platform, OS, and environment, predictably, first try -- even if it has sat idle for months)
Durability (I want it to last many many years without needing much maintenance; I print rarely / minimal quantity, but still want it to last a long time)
Customer support (as a backup for when things don't go well)
Does anybody have experiences or perspectives to share broadly about Canon & Brother? In general, can one be trusted more? One have a better reputation? Is there another brand I should absolutely be considering that I'm missing?
Thanks!
I am finally tired of fighting with my old printer that jams every second page and drinks ink like crazy. I mostly print regular stuff at home like school or work documents, shipping labels and the occasional form I need to sign. Color is nice to have, but I do not print photos very often.
Ideally I want something that
is not a total ink scam
connects easily over WiFi
does not jam every other print
and has reasonably priced ink or toner
Do people still prefer laser for home if it is mostly black and white, or are there any inkjet models that do not cost a fortune to run? If you have a home setup that has been reliably printing for a year or more, what are you using and would you buy it again?
Edit: After reading all the comments and doing a bit more digging, I ended up checking out this detailed home printer guide here: a really useful breakdown for home printing. It helped me compare the options people recommended and understand which models are actually worth getting in 2025.
