Im a fatherless broke teenager, Ive been saving for 2 years to buy my first car, I dont wanna pay much for maintenaince and as little as possible for insurance, Id just drive it to school/work, but maybe one 10 hour trip a year? I know next to nothing about cars, what should I aim for/avoid? All feedback is welcome

The best $10,000 car isn't a brand, make or model. The best $10,000 car is whatever you can find that was babied by an old person for a decade, had all its maintenance done at the dealership (because they told them to) and oil changes every six months (because the book said so).

I was looking into this recently and the ford fusion with the 2.5l engine seems to fit the underated category. It was only available on the base trim and they stopped making it in 2019 so it can be hard to find, and doesn’t have many features. The hybrid fusions got good reviews too
