Standing desk has been huge for me! I invested in one after my first surgery and when my company went fully remote. I try not to sit for more than 30-60 minutes at a time (alternating either with standing or short movement breaks), and I feel it's been helpful for me in preventing flare-ups and not overly stressing my hip flexors (and also making sure I'm activating my core and glutes, which you don't think about when you're sitting, usually). This chair came highly recommended (online reviews, plus a family member who does ergonomic assessments) and I've been happy with it. Lots of ways you can adjust it and is aesthetically pleasing. Honestly, I'm not sure that any chair is so great that sitting in it for hours on end is going to feel comfy post-op, but this is much better than what I had before and most standard office chairs. r/HipImpingement on Reddit: return to work - office chair recommendations?
October 28, 2022 -
I am 3 weeks post-op. I am off crutches and feeling pretty good overall. I am still having some occasional muscle pain/soreness, but when i am laying down/walking I feel well. I returned to work yesterday, but have noticed that sitting in my office chair is aggravating my hip and making me sore and causing some minor pain. Does anybody have a chair or cushion recommendation? I have ordered a standing desk that will arrive next week which i am hoping will help me some. Thanks!

Preparing Your House for Post-Op Hip Replacement Care
May 8, 2025 - Climbing the stairs isn’t an option right after hip-replacement surgery. Either sleep in a downstairs bedroom or consider getting a cot or a hospital bed. The elevation is key during your hip surgery recuperation, as you shouldn’t bend your new joint too much until the soft tissues have had adequate time to heal. Couches and low recliners aren’t very friendly to healing hips, because standing up after sitting on them can be difficult to do. You will want to avoid low beds, low chairs, low couches, etc., and be sure to purchase a raised toilet seat to utilize during this period.
