I’ve been trying to be more intentional about where I shop—less fast fashion, more local, and ideally stuff that feels unique or has a story. The problem is… I have no idea where to find these places unless they already have a big following on Instagram or someone recommends them directly.
I’ve walked past shops in the Mission, Hayes, and the Sunset that look really interesting but are either never open when I pass by or don’t show up in Google/Maps/IG searches in any meaningful way.
Curious—how do you discover new boutiques or independent designers in SF?
Do you stumble upon them while walking, follow certain people, or just happen to know neighborhoods well?
Would love to build a better list of hidden gems—open to recommendations too 👀

Madewell closes Monday. Nordstrom/anthropologie/gap/uniqlo all gone. Where do you go (in the city or outside) to get your shopping fix in? (note: I do buy from other stores like Marine Layer and local boutiques, but just asking for your shopping *destination* of choice)
