I've been a "grab a neutral TJ Maxx sheets set" girl for years. I've brought the same sheets and comforters from apartment to apartment and I'm ready to upgrade to something more quality to finally cultivate my dream adult aesthetic. I genuinely have no idea what are good places to buy from. I'm willing to splurge for something that feels cool but is also luxe quality. My personal style is mid century and adding kitschy but thoughtful pieces to it!
I'm trying to avoid patterns and instead go for a single color. I'd like to find something in olive green, a golden warm yellow, or a toasted orange.
Thank you!
We purchased a couple different comforters from Macy’s, but had to return both because the quality of poor.
I was hoping to try Amazon, but I don’t trust online reviews anymore and have no frame of reference for quality bedding brands.
I’m looking to spend no more than $100 on a comforter (and no more than $200 on a set if it comes in a set).
On the high quality bedding websites I can only find duvets but I from what I’ve compared I think I prefer comforters. Where can I get a high quality comforter?
Hi all,
My fiance and I are looking to upgrade to a king bed and adding things to our registry. Would love some recommendations for the whole bed - from the frame to the linens! I've added ones I've seen highly recommended but would love to hear more opinions:
BED FRAME: For the frame we are torn between getting an Ethan Allen wooden bed, like the Chloe or Clermont. Alternatively looking at the Tatami Room bed frames or Thuma classic bed in Espresso.

ANY ADVICE IS APPRECIATED! THANK YOU!!
Any recommendations? I want a cooling blanket because I live in California and i am a hot sleeper. Don’t care about the price. Also. Heard mixed reviews about cozy earth. They good or no ? Don’t care about price.
I hate my duvet/cover scenario. I want a really wonderful, 1-piece comforter. Machine washable, please. Under $300 for a King would be ideal.
I can run hot but I also love a little weight on me. I’ve been eyeing Quince comforters but will take any recs. Thank you!
EDIT: To clarify — one piece means I don’t want a duvet + insert. Just a comforter… or maybe a quilt since some of those ideas are sounding good.
I am in the market to buy and test out bedding. I currently own Cozy Earth sheets and a comforter (I love it) but want to try out several more brands.
So far, I know some good Brands like Brooklinen, The Company Store, and Cultiver. Let me know if you have any recs that are of the same or better quality than these or if you have bedding from these brands tell me what you do or don't like
Thank you!!
I don't know anything about comforters, looking for a good down alternative that will last a long time!
Ideally, I’d like a cotton comforter (not duvets or quilts). And sleep is important to me and we spend a good amount of time sleeping. I don’t really care what the comforter looks like, but I want it to be breathable and lightweight. Comforters can be pricey , but even in checking sales (like Amazon prime going on right now) they’re still very expensive. Please not suggestions for duvets/quilts as i don’t sleep as well in them.
Curious if there is something slightly below a Pottery Barn level that isn’t quite so expensive but still good quality. Thanks in advance.
I want to replace the bedding I had when I started college 5 years ago with a comforter and sheet set that’s more upscale and high quality. I’m looking for a soft comforter that keeps heat in with soft yet breathable sheets. Any idea where I can find what I’m looking for? Recommendations on what specifications I should look for? I’ve used the same brand of comforters from Target since I was six so any advice is greatly appreciated.
Best place to buy varies a lot. I have gotten awesome sheets from wild places so let's start with some basics. Microfiber is an affordable option, it's made of polyester (so not fantastic for the environment) but it's soft and less prone to pilling than other fabric. But it isn't breathable and it's fantastic for sensitive skin. Cotton Jersey is nice to sleep on, breathable and affordable, it's kinda like sleeping on a bunch of soft t shirts. It's knit. Neither of those though sleep super cool though so if like the refreshing coolness you are probably better off with woven cotton. (Fun fact: if you wake up from a nightmare and can flip over your pillow or have a cool one to use you won't plunge back into your nightmare when you fall back asleep) Cotton okay so lottttsss of info Most lauded kinds are the ones made of long-staple fibers like Egyptian, pima, Supima® but they aren't the only types of cotton in the game so they aren't the end all be all. Thread count. The number of vertical and horizontal threads in a square inch. Good sheets are usually between 300-800 count generally higher threads means it will wear well and perhaps even soften with age, and the sheets will be softer in general. But although you can get higher thread count sheets you might be paying for bubkis some of the brands artificially inflate the thread count (using yarns that are actually spun together and counting them as separate) that ultimately detract from the quality. And I have some great sheets that 200 count but are finished beautifully and thus are awesome. Other words you may or may not see Sateen - has a satin weave so it's nice and soft but not as durable they feel luxurious though Percale - crisp feeling and at least 180 thread count, durable, crisp, plain and unfussy Combed cotton - they combed the shorter fibers out. It's soft and strong
If I were you I would wait until black Friday so you can get some great deals, but make sure to only buy products the stores normally have on hand, if you buy something made for black Friday it's crap. I always wait unless I'm desperate (a former roommate spilling hot cooking oil into the linen cupboard) I would also only invest in a nice set if you have a bed you are going to have for a long time. If you think you might upgrade the size of your bed wait to get a few sets to go with that.
For blankets I only use feather down duvets and then change the covers out to whatever the heck I want (usually white or plant prints or green) get some different weight ones like summer (thinner or less) and winter (thicker or more) for different seasons and temperature. But depending on how you sleep you might want one over the other all year round. Other blankets I use are my weighted one (for the love of God buy one you can clean) and a random one I've had since childhood that's woven cotton from Walmart, and family quilts. I suggest buying a white duvet or duvet insert, because then if you have a light colored cover it doesn't show (curse younger me and my obsession with dark gray). Also think of your life style, I have always bought duvets a size bigger than my bed because I'm a blanket hog and want to become a burrito at night. This does look silly if I make my bed the traditional way so I as a rule don't, I trifold them at the base and then yeet them up to me when I crawl in. King size blankets are really cozy. If you are also a blanket hog too or just like to not fight with a partner or are less into cozy I would suggest two twin size duvets with matching or coordinating covers, no fighting over blankets and it looks cool.
Also upgrade your pillows at this time too! Then mark your calendar so you can wash them every three months and replace them in 2ish years! I have a lot of pricey pillows so I rotate them (stretch your neck my human it'll save you) but standard pillows super need to be cleaned to stay nice.
TLDR There is googleable vocab, and lots of personal anecdotes so if this wall of words is too much, know what you like for sleeping preferences and touch fabrics to see if you'll like them.
People say that bamboo sheets are wonderful. Just check online reviews for whatever you're considering. For a bed cover, I prefer a quilt or matelasse coverlet because they're so much easier to wash than a comforter.
What’s the absolute comfiest bedding set you personally recommend? Cute is a plus. But I’m looking for the most insanely comfy bedding I can get my hands on
Edit: Some of my favorite sleep conditions are being warm and snuggled up. I’m looking for bedding that is comfy to wrap up all my limbs with while I sleep, and something thick and heavy but not too hot. Comfy and cozy. I’m not really on a budget and I’m okay spending more money on bedding that will be a perfect fit. I’m in my first apartment all by myself and I want it to be a special, intentional purchase :) oh and I’m 27F, thanks in advance 🙏
My wife and I are looking to buy a new comforter or duvet. We like the style of a lot of Pottery Barn options but the price for those is quite outrageous. Does anyone know ow if a website or store that has stylish but affordable comforters and duvets?
Okay sorry for the long post, but I’ve been trying to find a new comforter or duvet/duvet cover but it’s overwhelming. I’ve read countless Reddit threads. For backstory:
I run veryyyy hot at night due to chronic illness, and sleep much better when I’m cooler. The Midwest summer months are awful for me. However, I love the feel of a big fluffy comforter (as does my partner).
I’ve heard so many different testimonies as to which type of material is the most breathable (linen/cotton/bamboo), and I’m also confused as to if it’d be better to get a comforter, or a duvet and a duvet cover?
I’m leaning towards duvets, as I’ve heard they’re easier to clean (or rather the covers are easier to clean) but don’t know much about the filling materials and what not.
So I guess I’m curious, what would y’all recommend/what have you had good luck with in terms of an outer layer setup/brands you recommend/materials, etc for staying super cool and breezy. I hope this makes sense! TYIA!!
Just got a new Queen sized bed and need some new bedding. So first things first...do you guys/gals prefer duvet+cover or comforter+top sheet? Currently leaning towards a duvet+cover. Have never been a big fan of top sheets.
Second, any specific brand recommendations? I've heard that Target's Threshold (percale) brand is great for sheets. Any other recommendations? What about for duvet/comforters?
Not necessarily trying to spend $300+ on some nice silk sheets but I also don't mind spending more if it's worth the money. Probably looking to spend around $200 for everything? Not sure, haven't had to buy bedding in ages so I'm not sure what a realistic budget is.
Also, I've heard some people recommend to size up for the duvet/comforter. Thoughts?

On a personal note, I have some JCPenney "Home" sheets that have been wonderful. They are around a decade old, get washed frequently and have not pilled, shrunk, or noticeably faded. They are stained a bit from my husband passing out covered in work dirt. They are still smooth and soft.
My wife and I really like the Royal Velvet sheets mentioned here: https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-sheets/
I personally hated the duvet + cover (I was the one who requested them thinking I'd like then).
The cover doesn't stay on well enough for my tastes (we've done straps, clips, everything) and it always feels like it's moving around inside too much so part of me is covered up with essentially two sheets (the cover) and part of me is covered up with bunched up duvet. I'm fine if the cover is removed. This might be an issue particular to me.
I am on a limited budget so need to buy my bedding at Wal Mart / Target or somewhere that has similar price points. What do I look for to get the softest feel? Is it 100%cotton? I hate scratchy comforters that never soften up. I also don’t want anything that pills. Help a girl out. Any suggestions?
Hiya! Wondering if anyone can recommend a good comforter for my partner and I? We originally loved the feel of the MUJI comforter but they haven’t restocked their comforters in weeks and we can find anywhere to buy one. We are looking for something very soft that also works well for my partner who is a very hot sleeper! Any recommendations will be very appreciated! :))
