I just bought a 5800x3d, but I noticed that this cpu does not come with a cooler. I tried looking up which one to get on YouTube but they gave me mixed answered on the cooler that I should get. So do any of y’all have any good cooler recommendation?

Edit: Wow thank all of y’all for your responses, this really helped and I was able to narrow down a great cooler :)

We Tested The Best CPU Coolers For Ryzen 7 5800X3D [With Benchmarks] - Tech4Gamers
November 7, 2024 - The ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240mm has everything: the looks, the performance, and the ability to win hearts. RGB on the VRM fan would give it a better look, but overall, it has been elevated to the ranks of being the best budget AIO cooler for Ryzen 7 5800X3D.
People also ask

What type of cooler should I get for the Ryzen 7 5800X3D?
Going for an AIO liquid cooler is recommended since it provides optimal performance and offers enough TDP for overclocking without worrying about the temperature. However, it is completely based on preference.

No. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D does not have a stock cooler; therefore, purchasing an aftermarket CPU Cooler is necessary.

Does the Ryzen 7 5800X3D overheat?
Since the Ryzen 7 5800X3D has a TDP of 105W, it is bound to reach high temperatures. However, pairing it with a decent CPU cooler, preferably an AIO liquid cooler, won’t be an issue.

Just picked up a 5800x3d this last weekend and now I’m at a crossroads in respects of what to cool it with. I’ve been tossing around the following options: Deepcool AK620, Thermalright Peerless Assassin SE ARGB (because rgb=more frames), Noctua NH-D15S (or the chromax black variant for that matter), and the Deepcool Assassin 3. With pretty much all of these options, I’d have to either raise the front fan, or switch to a pull-pull configuration on the cooler(s). Both due to ram clearance, Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro (which I believe has a height of 51mm). I also came across the Thermalright Frozen Notte aio, but the ridiculously low price has me skeptical about its performance. I’d probably go with the 360mm option if I got that. What’s everybody’s opinions and experience with any of the above mentioned coolers? I’d probably prefer to stick with a tower cooler, but I wouldn’t be against an aio. I know the Arctic Liquid Freezer 3’s have a good reputation and price as well.

Edit: my case is a Corsair 4000D Airflow so my max cooler height is 170mm.

February 7, 2025 -

Buying a 5800x3d soon and I figured I’d probably need to upgrade from my Coolermaster Hyper 212 when I do. I’m not super keen on doing liquid coolers and I would really really prefer sticking with air. What are my best options for air coolers for this CPU? I know it runs pretty hot.

So far I’ve looked at Deepcool Assassin 4 as I think it’ll JUST squeeze into my case, but I’m very open to suggestions

Edit to say: In Australia, so easily sourced recommendations here are appreciated

r/buildapc on Reddit: Need CPU cooler recommendations for 5800X3D upgrade
September 8, 2022 -

Hello everyone! Looking to upgrade my current Ryzen 2700X CPU to the 5800X3D. My understanding is that I will need a better CPU cooler than the stock cooler on the 2700x. I am running the stock Wraith Prism cooler on the 2700X.

I have no experience with AIO coolers, but I am open to the idea if it beneficial to my system. Basically, looking for others' opinions on what the best CPU cooler for the 5800X3D is.

I am not ready to build out an entire new system on the AM5 platform just yet, so I am looking to squeeze more life out my current build. I will be upgrading my GPU at some point in the near future as well.

Here is my current build list.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core Processor

Motherboard: ASRock X470 Taichi ATX AM4 Motherboard

Memory: G.Skill Flare X 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL14 Memory

Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8 GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING Video Card

Case: Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Update: Have been running the 5800X3D for a few weeks and am thrilled with the upgrade. I swapped out the Wraith Prism cooler for a Deepcool AK620 when I did the switch. Temps are very reasonable and I'm glad I went with the Deepcool. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

April 9, 2025 -

Hello, I need some help picking out a cpu cooler for my 5800x3d in a new case I'm getting, I've been getting some mixed opinions online so I just wanted to see if any one has had to cool a 5800x3d with a sff cpu cooler and have had no problems with throttling.

Some preliminary picks are:
Jonsbo HX6200D
Jonsbo HP-600
ID-Cooling IS-67-XT BLACK
Thermalright AXP120-X67
Scythe Big Shuriken 3

Edit: After some more research and talking to people within the community, I think the Thermalright AXP120-X67 fits my needs best for height clearance and the best performance for it's height.

What CPU Cooler would be adequate for a 5800X3D? : r/buildapc
January 26, 2023 - Generally the biggest cooler which will fit is best...a bigger cooler will mean less fan noise. The best quality coolers are from Noctua - but they are pricey. A small cooler will work too, as the 5800x3D does not get that hot (I have one). Bigger is better for air coolers though.

r/buildapc on Reddit: Need help with selecting a 5800x3d CPU cooler
July 20, 2023 -

I recently upgraded to a 5800x3d and I've been using a vetro v5 as my cpu cooler since it's what I already have. However, I've noticed high temps when idle and gaming, and as a result higher noise levels with higher fan speeds (I've adjusted fan curve but still goes loud because of how hot the CPU gets).

I'm currently considering either an air cooler such as the Thermalright Peerless assassin ($40 CAD) or one of many 240mm aio's (about $150 CAD).

While I know that the Thermalright would provide adequate cooling, I'm not sure if I'm going to like the look of a chonky air cooler in my case.

What's your opinion? Save the $110 and get the thermalright? Or go for aesthetics? I know this depends on each person but I'm curious what cpu cooler you've selected and how you feel about your decision. Any recommendations are also welcome. Thanks!
