May 31, 2025 - It powers a whole suite of DIY-friendly tools, including a heavy-duty cordless drill that aced CR's tests. "Different batteries have different capacities, so smaller batteries might come with tools like a string trimmer or a leaf blower, because they don't need to run as long," Hope said. "So, you can absolutely use this smaller battery in a lawn mower, but just keep in mind you won't get the same run time as you would from a larger capacity battery."Consumer Reports didn't include pressure washers or snow blowers in its most recent assessment of battery platforms.

r/DIY on Reddit: Battery powered garden tools
April 29, 2025 -

I have a variety of battery powered garden tools made by different manufacturers (hedge trimmer, small chainsaw, string trimmer…). I bought them at various times but now I think I should stick with one manufacturer so that batteries and chargers are interchangeable. I’m just a home gardener with a fairly large yard. Is there one manufacturer that people like for these tools? I don’t need professional quality, but I’m not looking to get the least expensive brand either.

r/lawncare on Reddit: Best all around battery ecosystem for the money
December 30, 2020 -

To keep it short and simple, I'd like to go all battery power for my mower, string trimmer, push mower, snow blower, leaf blower.

I won't buy them all at once, but thinking I'd like to start with a snow blower, then branch out, but I realize that I'll be tied into an ecosystem due to battery sharing.

So I'm looking for the best price/performance brand. If I can save some money and not miss out on a ton of performance I'm good with that, but I don't want to spend say $300 on a product that will last 3 years and suck when I can say spend $400-500 and have a product that just works for lets say 5-6 years. I know one brand might not make all the best products as well.
