I'm in the microgeneration that just missed the Renaissance (the first movie I ever saw in a theater at age 3 was Disney's Tarzan) so while I grew up enjoying all those instant 90s classics on VHS, the Disney animation that was MY movies was Lilo & Stitch, Atlantis the Lost Empire, and especially Treasure Planet. I had the fake Atlantis tourism guidebook, I played the hell out of Battle at Procyon, I was shocked to learn that all three of these forays into sci-fi had not done equally well once I understood what a flop was. Reviving pulp adventure storytelling with steampunk aesthetics may not have been the way into young Zillennials' hearts in aggregate but it was the way into mine. More on reddit.com
