Brooklinen makes some great sets, but quite a lot are returned cuz of shrinkage or the fabric getting scratchy over time (major ick) For cotton-linen blends, I’d recommend California Design Den or Sijo. Parachute has a nice relaxed look but can be high maintenance and tends to wrinkle heavily. Coyuchi is solid if you want something organic, but their king sizes tend to run a bit snug after a few washes. I’ve seen the most consistent feedback on California Design Den (linking it cuz its a little nicher ig). Its super soft out of the package and holds up well, full shade to brooklinen. All three are reasonably priced and feel higher-end than some of the bigger brand offerings in the same bracket. They also tend to last longer before you see pilling or thread fray. For washing, I usually suggest cold water, gentle detergent, and low tumble dry or hang dry if possible. Avoid fabric softeners or bleach both mess with the finish. If you like a crisper look, toss in a dryer ball or two to soften without chemicals Answer from BluwulfX on reddit.com

The 5 Best Duvet Covers of 2025 | Reviews by Wirecutter
September 12, 2025 - Linen’s coarser texture feels casually elegant on a bed, and Cultiver has some of the softest, best-quality linen we’ve tested (shown here in bluestone). Marki Williams/NYT Wirecutter · The stitching is neat and strong, and even though this is one of our heaviest duvet cover picks, the corner ties stayed secure in my shake tests.

r/Bedding on Reddit: What Duvet Cover do you recommend??
February 18, 2025 -

I am in the process of changing my bedding, and upgrading from a Queen to King. I went down the rabbit hole and got some sheet, mattress, pillow etc. Gosh, it was a very fun

Now I am trying to find a good duvet cover, do you all have recommendations? Budget is around 200-250, willing to spend a little more if the product is really great.

I got my duvet cover from pottery barn https://www.potterybarn.com/shop/bedding/duvet-covers-shams/ I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives, but at least everything from them seems to be good quality. I went with a 100% cotton one from the winter selection that went on clearance a while back and im pretty happy with it. [edit] they still have it, but not in the color that i bought it in. https://www.potterybarn.com/products/stewart-plaid-duvet-cover-shams-multi/ only white is left but not bad for 80$

Looking for good sheets/duvet/duvet covers OR comforters… BIFL bedding?!

Buy linen, it's the closest to BIFL bed sheets and duvet covers get. They can be pricey but linen lasts for a long time and gets nicer each and every wash.

Linoto is a great brand made in upstate NY (though their customer service has been hard to get in touch with), my linoto sheets are holding up really well. Magic linen is another awesome brand made in Eastern Europe.

As for a duvet insert, I have a wool comforter I love, but haven't had it long enough to say it's BIFL or not

Best Duvet Cover? (Canada)
I recently did some research while looking for a new duvet cover myself. Wirecutter is usually my go-to source for lists of the best anything. I've been into the look of linen lately. I saw another comment on here about Rough Linen and it looks nice. Brooklinen is another brand I've seen recommended. I just bought an Ikea linen duvet cover but haven't tried it out yet. I also recently learned the difference between percale and sateen cotton. Percale is that crisper feeling cotton, while sateen feels slightly slippery. I really like percale and I think that will feel cool and fresh. The Wirecutter article recommends the L.L. Bean percale duvet cover. More on reddit.com

What makes a good duvet cover? What do you suggest?
I make my own because no commercially available one was just right. Its fun and easy and a great way to get started on a sewing machine. All straight seams, maybe curved corners, and a few tie-ups. I get used flat sheets at the thrift shop, cheap and you can feel the thread. More on reddit.com

My only recommendation here is to get both an insert and a cover that have multiple places you can tie the corners and edges on the inside so that it stays in place inside the cover. Otherwise, if you thought comforter lumps were annoying, you’ll go absolutely insane with your duvet sliding around inside its cover. Just trying to help protect your mental health! Something like this: https://www.downlitebedding.com/blog/the-more-you-know-duvet-loops/ (This is not a recommendation to buy this product; I’ve never tried it. But for a visual.) More on reddit.com
