i just bought the lightweight duvet from silk and snow and i’m so happy with it. it’s heavy enough that I feel a little bit of weight and fluffiness, but light enough that I can completely wrap myself without getting hot on a summer night. it’s also an animal-free alternative, so no loose feathers to worry about! Should I add a duvet cover?
A duvet cover adds extra protection to your comforter, but it can change the feel and how warm or cool you sleep. If you tend to overheat at night, go for a duvet cover made from cotton, bamboo or sateen. That way, you’ll still enjoy the cooling effects of your comforter.

Are all cooling comforters light?
Not all. While some cooling comforters are lightweight to help people in the summer, some all-season cooling comforters still have a heavier feel and sensation that might be familiar to a regular duvet. If you'd like something heavier, we recommend all-season comforters or those with a silk insert.

How much do cooling comforters cost?
You can find cheap cooling comforters for around $50 on Amazon, but the higher quality comforters that will actually regulate your temperature can cost you anywhere from $150 to $300. Hot sleepers should look for cooling comforters made of materials that won't retain heat, such as flannel, wool and down that's not lightweight.

r/Bedding on Reddit: Duvet insert which is both fluffy but cool ?
July 21, 2023 -

Hi,

I am looking for the ideal duvet insert, which for me would mean both fluffy yet cool, as I sleep rather hot. I have tried several ones, but never found the one...any recommendation ? which kind of material should I look for ? I have tried the following :

- 100% Silk duvet (Ikea) : good temperature-wise, but it's very thin and doesn't have any of that fluffyness / volume which I like.

- 4-season duvet made out of 50% polyester microfibre, 25% duck down and 25% duck feathers : super fluffy and comfortable, unfortunately too hot, I end up waking up sweating...

- Cotton weighted blanket : tried it for a while, but didn't like it too much, it doesn't have the fluffy feeling and was also keeping me too hot.

I know I sound difficult. But is there perhaps anything else a solution I haven't considered yet ? Do they make fluffy silk duvets (I didn't find any) ? I assume that a 100% down/feather duvet is gonna be just as hot than the one I have ?

Thanks !
