Epson Eco Tank Recommendations
I have the 3850, I think it's a sweet spot for homeschoolers: >Faster than most of the others. I'm not exactly rushed on time but it's relatively nice to be able to pick up a couple pages in the time it takes you to walk over to your printer, and if you give it 40 pages of worksheets or want something on best it's nice to not have to wait around for an hour >2 sided printing is great for worksheets >250 page tray is nice and really what you want for printing a decent amount- it's nice not to have to load the paper tray every time you want to do a substantial job. >I like the direct ethernet port connected to my router (in a closet) for a reliable and fast connection not subject to the whims of Wifi or the printer sleeping or whatever. >ADF feeder is handy when you want it Vs. the 3850: 2850- Lose paper capacity, speed, ethernet, ADF tray 4850- Gain only fax 15000- Wider and just slightly faster with a big price bump The business "Pro" models are a bit faster, but the entry level ones are only just a little faster for a huge price increase and size increase. The higher end ones are much faster and offer 500 sheet trays but then are a huge price bump. I was initially contemplating a black and white one that'd be faster and about the same price as the 3850, but I've ended up printing a little bit of color (different fonts, a colorful certificate of achievement, some charts) etc with a higher frequency than I thought to the point I'm glad I didn't pass on color. Downsides- Scanning is slow, quality is adequate but not super professional. Standard quality is acceptable but not incredibly crisp, draft really feels like a draft. I've discovered a quality setting buried in the menus that's beyond "best" that actually looks pretty good, but does take a pretty absurd amount of print time, but that's fine. I wouldn't bother printing photos on this with any great aspirations, but it's fine for worksheet graphics and the like. I've heard print nozzles can clog if they're not used regularly and this destroys the entire unit, so contemplate buying from Costco for a limitless warranty. The printer can get it's own email address through Epson and then print anything that is sent to that email, so I added that email to a number of utility bills and other notifications so it will automatically print somewhat colorful things at least twice a month and hopefully stop that from happening. January 28, 2024 -
I’m eyeballing the Epson Eco Tank. We’re in the market for a new printer.
We’re starting Kindergarten this September with a mix of Oak Meadow curriculum and nature school twice a week.
Which model of the Epson Eco Tank is best? I’m overwhelmed with the options. We have 3 kids (4, 2 and newborn) and will eventually be homeschooling all 3 of them. So I need a hearty printer that will last, but won’t break the bank in terms of replacing ink.
I’ve purchased so many printers over the years and I haven’t been happy with any of them. Now that we’re starting homeschool, I want to splurge and get a good one.
Upfront cost is not an issue.

October 22, 2024 - The ink levels show about 90%. ET380 was purchased last year to replace a Brother Laser printer. Would recommend this Epson type of printer versus the old ink or laser cartridge ones. ... From my experience (ET-2856), it’s a solid home workhorse: quick to set up, the mobile app is decent, and text duplex is very good.

December 9, 2023 - My 9 year old Canon Pro 100 recently failed. I just bought an ET-8550 last week after a thorough survey. I wanted this A3+ version but there is also the slightly cheaper ET-8500 A4 printer. I've only tried printing so far on Epson Premium Glossy and Permajet Matt 240 (PJ have a printer profile).

Which printer is better, Epson Eco Tank ET-2870 or HP Smart Tank 5105? I will be using it to print official documents along with general domestic use. I have tested the Epson Eco Tank. It doesn't produce very sharp text, especially in small fonts. - Quora
Answer (1 of 2): Before you blame the printer, You need to double check the software your using to create the document, It may be set to a lower resolution (PPI Pixels Per Inch) than what the printer is capable of reproducing. For the smoothest small fonts ( 4 - 6 point ) 300 PPI ( or DPI Dots Pe...
