Honorable mentions for Adobe Lightroom 's Camera mode and MotionCam Pro 's Photo Mode Best paid photo app: Proshot - very robust options for things like exposure bracketing, nice UI with manual controls, and some control over processing of JPEGs Best free video app: Blackmagic Camera app (if your device is compatible) app, a common user favorite, it's free and has nice UI although limited by Android restrictions. there is no best app for everyone, only the one that does what you need. if you have a Panasonic CM1, you will get access to special features like manual aperture and shutter control on the panasonic camera app. If you have a Pixel phone, the regular camera app gives you access to tools like Portrait, Night Sight, Panoramic and Photosphere
