Hey there! I totally get the struggle of finding that perfect communication tool for remote work. It's a critical piece of ensuring smooth operations. Zoom: I know it’s mainly known for video conferencing, but they do offer chat functionalities too. The free version allows unlimited 1:1 meetings, but group meetings are capped at 40 minutes. That said, the quality of calls and screen sharing is generally top-notch. Google Meet & Chat: If your team uses Google services, Google Meet and Chat might be a natural fit. Meet is great for video calls, and Chat serves the purpose of team communication. Notifications have been reliable in my experience. Mattermost: It's an open-source, self-hosted Slack alternative. It does require a bit more on the setup side, but it provides great flexibility, especially if you have some tech-savvy team members. Chanty: This one's an underdog in the team chat world but worth a look. It offers unlimited public and private team chats, audio calls, and the free version supports up to 10 members. Video calls, however, might be a limitation. Limits: Every free tool will have its limitations, whether it's the number of participants, call duration, or storage. Brilliant. Thank you! What I am still looking for, is some real exercises. Like a list of tasks the colleagues have to fulfil to practice Teams in real use cases.
For instance:
Work with colleague B on Doc x. Afterwards share it with your teammates and an external (without having access to your team)
Set up a video meeting on topic XY with colleagues A,B. Share your meeting notes with the team afterwards.
and so on.
Was always too lazy to create one. But also afraid that I might miss something.

Built in to Microsoft 365 licenses Planner, just a group-based Microsoft version of Trello. It does pretty well with organizing different items into sections and such.
If you want to use the best of the best, Microsoft Project is a bit more complicated, but a crazy powerful tool for project management.
