Poweramp is by far the best in my opinion. Very customizable. Well worth the purchase. Answer from Nicocephalosaurus on reddit.com

February 10, 2021 - For local playback, I recommend Poweramp, though I can't recall what limitations it has on the free version. It has a decent equalizer and very good sound output options, as well as support for milkdrop visualizations. For playback of local or remote music via dlna or casting, I recommend BubbleUPnP, which is fully functional for most uses without purchasing the license; it can be any mixture of the three DLNA profiles (player, controller, storage), and as a bonus can expose music stored in your cloud storage to other DLNA devices on the local network.

Life's been rough since my all time favorite music player app BlackPlayer EX Became officially broken and unfixable in the past few months.

So far After trying out all of the top options from the play store I have only found two that I like and neither of them are perfect: Oto Music+ & Musicolet.

Oto is damn you're perfect other than the way it's queue behaves...

Musicolet is fine Pin functions pretty well but I personally don't like the interface, I find it to be cluttered and even though the app is straightforward/simple I find using it to be tedious.

Do y'all have any suggestions for me?

(Please don't suggest Poweramp or Pulsar Pro; the former has way too much going on for me personally and the latter - to put it simply - is overrated and has an Inherently flawed interface IMO)

Really only looking for paid or open source apps here... Reason for that being the Google play store is riddled with terrible music players that have “mp3“ Or something similar in the title.

What's the best Music player for Android?

To play from my local collection. Requirements are to play lyrics files with a good UI.

Tried PixelPlay but it has many bugs. And I used to use samsung music, but now the ui looks like to have a redesign.

So whats the best thing available, and ofc for free

What ap do you use to listen to your music library on your android phone? I'm looking for something simple that can play a wide variety of files. I don't need a bunch of extra fluff features, just to be able to access my full library.

IDK if this is a good subreddit to ask this, but I figured pirates are fellow people who don't rely on streaming and have the same wide variety of file types. Thanks

Ever since the close of Google Play Music it has been a pain in the ass to find a competent local music player for Android. All of them have built in ads that force the app to try to connect even when I'm underground causing me grief trying to change songs and just utilize the app in general.

Any viable alternatives? Currently using an app simply called "Music Player" that has the ad problem.

Edit: Thanks everyone that has replied, I will give Musicolet a shot today and see how it fairs during my commute.

Over the next 1-2 months I want to use lots of different music players for the sole purpose of finding the 'best' ones. If you have any suggestions, especially ones I don't have already, please comment them. Looking for music players (so .mp3 and .flac players). In a while, I will report back with details on each app.

FOSS is not a requirement, but being free is.

Apps currently on the list:

  • antiiq

  • audit

  • audyn

  • FiiO

  • GoneMAD

  • Lark

  • mixtube

  • mi music

  • music beats

  • musicolet (current main player)

  • muzio

  • oto

  • phocid

  • pi player

  • an app just called 'player'

  • poweramp (another current favourite) - crossed out because it is paid, and I didn't realise I was on the trial.

  • pulsar

  • retro music

  • Spotify (local files section only)

  • symfonium (paid)

  • VLC

Added:

  • AIMP

  • Auxio

  • foobar2000

  • harmonoid

  • hiby

  • LAP

  • mediamonkey

I have a FiiO JM21 and a Fii0M7(that I absolutely despise but that's for another post). I'm looking for music player recommendations for local music library. I am not a fan of the FiiO music player that is built in and I've been searching this sub for a while and most if not all posts are on the unit recommendations themselves and not just on the players.
What is everyone using and WHY?
What made you land on/stay with that player you're using? Again, I'm not talking the DAP itself but the app you use to listen to your local library.

TIA!

Hello,

I am quite conventional with my music and prefer to download it and listen to it. It's difficult these days to find a music player that doesn't have advertisements in it. Any suggestions on which music player is good for my purpose.

Edit: Musicolet for the win! Using it since 9 months. No regrets!
