I would get a used T7i that comes with the 18-135 USM for around $500 That should get you going for almost anything. If you can spare another $100 you can get either the 24mm f2.8 or the 50mm f1.8 for low light. Then you'll enter the rabbit hole depending on what you shoot: EFS 10-18 for ultra wide shots EFS 55-250 for those nice telephoto shots Anything outside of that and you are talking about lenses that cost about the same or more than the camera. Hello! I am an art & design student at university and was hoping to get more into photography, (portraiture, street photography, product/clothing photography) and have little to no experience. My photographer friend recommended I look for a somewhat older, full frame digital camera to start with, and said this budget was about what I could look to spend. I just don’t quite know how old of a camera to look for or what brands are best, and would love some recommendations! Thanks!

Is there a particular reason you want a full frame camera? They tend to be bigger, heavier, and more expensive. In addition, the lenses for them tend to also be bigger, heavier, and more expensive. This is a bit like saying you have $5,000 to buy a car, but you want a luxury car brand. If you find something, it's going to be much older and more expensive to deal with. My current camera kit is a few thousand dollars in gear, and it's not full frame. I have two full frame cameras, too, I just don't see a huge difference for most of what I do. If you can forgo full frame - which I would absolutely recommend at your budget - then I'd look at a second-hand Canon or Nikon DSLR along with the kit 18-55mm lens that many of them will be sold with. D5600, D7200, D7500 on Nikon's side, T6i, T7i, 70D, 80D maybe on Canon's side.
