if you are wanting small, why not try an APSC camera? any of the modern Fujifilm's or Sony APSC cameras are amazing, especially if you haven't kept in touch with the tech they really are not much of a downgrade from full frame nowerdays at all now and have the benefit of being smaller/cheaper and much smaller lenses. Why full frame specifically? Smaller sensors could potentially give you significantly better quality in a newer body and leave budget room for a decent lens. Full frame lenses (without looking at something vintage) are generally going to be more expensive. More on reddit.com

I would get a used T7i that comes with the 18-135 USM for around $500 That should get you going for almost anything. If you can spare another $100 you can get either the 24mm f2.8 or the 50mm f1.8 for low light. Then you'll enter the rabbit hole depending on what you shoot: EFS 10-18 for ultra wide shots EFS 55-250 for those nice telephoto shots Anything outside of that and you are talking about lenses that cost about the same or more than the camera. Saw an old friend I haven’t seen in several years and they ask if I was still into photography and how it was going… they were completely shocked that I no longer took pictures and hadn’t for many years. “That was your passion” “you loved photography” “you didn’t take your camera to…” …I think it’s time I get a little camera. Something lighter weight would be cool… as my last camera was about 3-4 pounds and always envied those smaller cameras. Oh as the years go by sometimes we forget how important it is to do the things we enjoy.
