Any thoughts on portable fire pits?
in search of quality fire pit
Anybody have a propane fire pit table they recommend ?
Gas fire pit!
Pros: Instant heat beneficial for smokers or impromptu decisions to sit outside. No smoke in your eyes. No ash removal. No firewood (bugs).
Downside: Not a real fire. No smoke (smell). No crackle of the logs. No fun of stoking, log place, adding logs, etc.
I wouldn't say one is safer than the other. Wood fire can always get hotter than gas but that's not saying you can't get an burner with adequate BTU's. You would want to look at the size of the gas line running to the oven to see if it is adequate to branch off of first. Gas line would be hand dug or would use a machine called a ditch witch to make a narrow trench depending on distance.
Could also consider an and/or situation with a chiminea which I really like.

I am looking for a good quality, round, larger than 25 inch fire pit for my back yard. I want something that is easy to keep up, and that will last. Thanks.
