A while back me and a friend were in a similar spot she was using youtube and i was taking free courses after which i wanted to take up something structured that would actually hold weight if I decided to move into a GenAI-focused role. Did a little bit of research I went with the Applied Generative AI certification offered Purdue on Simplilearn's platform. What made me choose this was the reviews, the learning parts, projects and modules covered. Here's my experience on it, just taught this might help you. The instructors actually knew the tech and kept the content current, was a mix of theory + practice which helped a lot, I built small GenAI apps, played with model fine-tuning, and that made things click and the instructor was very helpful in my challenges and doubts. now talking about some thing which could have been better are, some modules were slower-paced along with a few concepts i had already learnt through free courses and a few modules could’ve gone deeper. Overall i would say go through the course curriculum and the learning path and all the details of the course before you pursue it so that it aligns with you. r/onlinecourses on Reddit: What's the best Generative AI certification for someone looking to switch careers into GenAI?
October 24, 2025 -

I currently work in the tech field and have recently gotten really interested in Generative AI. I've gone through some beginner content which was free and on youtube and now I'm thinking about taking it more seriously and getting a certification that could actually help me transition into a GenAI-focused role.

There are tons of certification options out there from different companies, but it's hard to tell which ones are actually worth the time and money or recognized by employers.

If anyone here has taken a genAI certification that helped you gain practical skills or opened up real opportunities, I'd love to hear your recommendations

I’ve been working in a tech company for about 3 years now I work with multiple teams and I want to start implementing Genai into some of the processes. There are so many courses out there but I don't know which one to choose i’m a beginner and looking for something that actually teaches the basics well and isn’t outdated, but rather up to date.

If anyone has taken a course or knows of one that would be useful, I’d love to hear your suggestion I just want something practical and easy to follow.

check Google Cloud’s Generative AI Learning Path. It’s free and for people in tech who want to start using GenAI at work. Another good one is Andrew Ng’s AI for Everyone on Coursera. It breaks things down simply and talks about how to apply AI in business. Then try playing around with tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini in small work projects. Also, check out Cloud Strategy Labs for more tips on learning GenAI, tech careers, and how to make AI work in your job.

I have been working in tech from the last 10 years(mostly work on software development). Even i also want to use GenAI for workflow automation but completely lost with where to start. I tried a few courses and here's what actually worked: Deeplearning AI "Generative AI for Everyone" (free on Coursera) is perfect for understanding the fundamentals without getting stuck by complicated math. Andrew Ng explains things clearly, and it is updated regularly. After that, I jumped into their "ChatGPT Prompt Engineering for Developers" course (also free, like 1-2 hours). You will literally learn how to build stuff with the OpenAI API, create chatbots, and automate tasks. For something more hands-on and India-focused, programs like LogicMojo AI & ML Course work well because they force you to build projects, not just watch videos or theory lectures. It was good compared to other options. I learn a lot here. But yes, start with those free courses first, they are genuinely good and recently updated (2025 content). I used what I learned to automate our team's report generation and saved like 5 hours a week. Don't overthink it; just pick one, finish it in a weekend, and start experimenting. The tech moves so fast that "perfect course hunting" wastes more time than just diving in and learning by doing.

Want to do a short-term course on applied generative AI, that will enable me to start applying it at work, and also help me develop different use cases, business applications, etc.

  • Duration - Preferably 6 mo or less

  • Some combination of self-paced study structure/schedule and live sessions/mentoring will be great.

  • Flexible schedule/timings but something to keep accountability in check, a mentor/community to reach out to, and some hands-on projects, or case studies to work on.

July 5, 2024 -

Hello!

First of all, if this is not the right sub to ask, please forgive me. I'm a bit lost with all this and I really would like to find an answer.

I am looking for courses, masters and all kind of certified content that could allow me to boost my career.

I am already an avid user of gen AI tools, specially regarding text content, but also images and so on. I have been doing courses like the ones Google offers to develop skills in promp crafting and tuning using Vertex. I am currently doing a free course about LLM (Harvard Online, but that one is more focussed on code).

My current field is marketing and comms.

Thank you in advance.

r/googlecloud on Reddit: Preparing for the Google Cloud Generative AI Leader certification
November 11, 2025 -

Hi everyone, I’m planning to take the Google Cloud Generative AI Leader certification and have a few questions:

  1. What is the level of difficulty of the exam? (For example: how many scenario-based questions, how technical vs strategic?)

  2. Does anyone have previous year question banks or practice papers (or strong suggestions for practice exams) they used with good results?

  3. The exam can be taken remote or onsite (in a test centre) — from your experience which is better, and are there any pros/cons (e.g., remote proctoring issues, test-centre environment) especially for candidates in India?

I’d appreciate any tips, your personal experience, or caveats you found during your preparation.

Thanks in advance!

r/googlecloud on Reddit: 🚨 Google Cloud Launches New Generative AI Leader Certification!
April 9, 2025 -

Big news from Google Cloud! They've just announced a first-of-its-kind certification focused on Generative AI for business and tech leaders. It’s called the Google Cloud Generative AI Leader Certification, and it's designed to validate your ability to lead gen AI initiatives, align them with business goals, and understand core capabilities in Google Cloud.

💰 Cost: $99
⏱️ Time: 90 minutes
🌍 Availability: Global (starting May 14th)

📘 Exam covers four key areas:

  1. Generative AI Fundamentals (30%) – Core concepts, terminology, and principles.

  2. Google Cloud Gen AI Offerings (35%) – Tools, services, and real-world use cases.

  3. Techniques to Improve Output (20%) – Prompting, fine-tuning, and LLM optimization.

  4. Business Strategy (15%) – Secure, ethical, and impactful AI adoption practices.

This is a great move for professionals who want to bridge the gap between AI tech and business strategy, especially if you're in product, consulting, or leadership roles.

🧠 Looks like it’s more about strategic enablement than hardcore model building—perfect for non-engineers who still want to be AI-savvy.

r/googlecloud on Reddit: Passed Google Cloud Generative AI Leader exam - Tips, Resources & practice tests
June 17, 2025 -

just passed the Google Cloud Generative AI leader cert and wanted to share a bit about my prep in case it helps someone. i wasn’t sure what to expect since it’s a newer exam, but it’s definitely more about strategy and use cases than technical stuff.

i started with google’s free stuff on cloud skills boost – the “generative ai for decision makers” course was honestly super helpful. it covers a lot about business value, risks, responsible ai, and examples from different industries. also did the generative ai fundamentals badge just to brush up on the basics.

the exam had a lot of scenario-type questions, like “you’re leading a retail company’s ai initiative, what’s the best first step…” – so understanding how gen ai applies to real-world problems is key. also had a few on responsible ai and managing change, which i didn’t expect but makes sense for leadership roles.

I relied mostly on google’s own material and reading a few blog posts on medium and linkedin from people who took it early. also done practice tests from Skillcertpro which are surprisingly good. I never expected 500+ exam questions available for such new exam. they are also adding new questions every week. I loved the explanations as well. So detailed that you can easily understand the concepts. I also saw few questions directly appearing from these practice tests on main exam. Definitely I would recommend them to be included in your preparation.

tl;dr: if you're thinking of taking it, focus less on deep tech and more on strategy, impact, ethical use, and real-world adoption. and don’t skip the cloud skills boost courses – they’re free and pretty solid.

good luck to anyone going for it! happy to answer questions if you’re prepping.
