Just got back from a full day at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter (yep, that's the full name LOL) and damn… it was amazing. But also overwhelming if you don’t plan it right.
Some quick thoughts that might help if you're going soon:
Pros
The sets are insane. Hogwarts Great Hall, Diagon Alley and the full-size Hogwarts Express are worth the ticket alone.
You'll nerd out over the props and behind-the-scenes stuff - especially the animatronics and makeup areas.
Butterbeer is a thing. It's weirdly good. Try it at least once.
You can walk inside Privet Drive. Childhood unlocked.
Cons
The gift shop is... dangerous. Like €€€ dangerous.
It’s crowded. Even off-peak, expect lines.
Food is mid. Eat before or after.
Advice for first-timers
Book way in advance - no tickets on-site.
Take your time. The average visit is 3–4 hours, but I could've easily stayed 5.
Bring a power bank. You'll take hundreds of photos. In my case videos
Go early in the day if you want the best lighting in the outdoor section (like the Knight Bus and Privet Drive).
Hello! I'll be in London at the end of November and wanted to explore the studios, but the only available tickets are after 5 pm. I'd like to keep my evenings free. I see an option to purchase a studio ticket with transfer to get a morning entry time, but the round trip by bus would take about 7-8 hours, including 4 hours in the studios. The train looks like a much faster option. I have two questions to help me decide.
Wouldn’t 4 hours in the studio be a bit too long? Are there really enough things to do to fill the time? I’m a fast walker and usually get through everything quickly.
If I choose an evening tour, is it easy to return to London (Covent Garden) at night from Watford Junction? Is it safe for a solo female?

I’m a 33 year old who is only just now reading these books and loving them! My spouse and I will be in London for two nights in June. It’s between other destinations, and I studied abroad in London in 2012 (so I’ve gotten to experience highlights of the city, though not in a long time). Is it worth my one full day there to go out to the Warner Brothers studio set and tour it?

Has anyone done one of the (many) Harry Potter walking tours in the city, and do you recommend it, OR should I just follow a self guided walking tour based on one of the (also many) online blogs?

I wanted to share our experience visiting Harry Potter Studios in London. My boyfriend and I are huge Harry Potter fans and we decided to celebrate my birthday there. It was the best decision ever!
We got our tickets on the Warner Bros website 6 months in advance. You don’t need to do it that early unless you really want a specific date like we wanted my birthday.
We got there by train to Watford Junction and then used the Studios’ shuttle bus to get to the HPS.
We genuinely had the best time – we spent over 5 hours at the studio, explored every little piece of the tour, and wished we had more money for the fan shop 😊
The sets are all incredible and if you ever get the chance to visit, please take it and go!

OUR EXPERIENCE AT HARRY POTTER STUDIOS IN LONDON (Hogwarts in the Snow)
As an HP fan, is the guided tour worth it?? or even the combo tours with the dinner/breakfasts???
I know Im going to spend hours and hours there anyhow looking at everythind and probably do already know a lot about HP, so it it really worth doing a guided tour or it is overpriced and I should just go for the standard one?
Side quest: I'm going there a couple of days before my birthday and i really wanted to be there on the exact date, but it's just not possible because of circumstances, do you think I could still book my ticket as a bday treat ticket?
I have somehow managed to get a UK visa and don't think I will be able to go back for years, so really want to make the most of it.

I know we need to book in advance so I checked the official site - and it seems to be sold out. But when I check London Tickets there's plenty left.

Going to London in a couple months and wanted to see if anyone has gone and whether it's worth it to go.
My 18 yr old daughter and I are heading to London first week of September. I'm going to surprise her with the Harry Potter studio tour and I'm trying to decide, if the afternoon tea add on is worth it, and also if it would be better to schedule the tea before or after the tour. TIA
It was our gift for our daughter’s birthday. Planned a few days family trip from Paris and we all enjoyed it. She and her brother ended up buying a wand in the shop and I was this close to pick one for me too 😅
I’m not a potterhead myself but seeing the real sets, props, and costumes that were used in the movies was quite amazing I must say. I thought you guys might enjoy some of the pics I took during the tour
I'm visiting London soon and the studio tour is sold-out.
I keep refreshing in case something gets cancelled but no luck so far.
What else can I do besides the tour? Any suggestions?
UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your suggestions but I DID IT. I found a ticket for the exact date I needed it for! I literally felt like Harry must have felt when he was told he was a wizard.
If anyone else is looking for last minute tickets my advice is this: check out (LEGIT) third party websites and KEEP. REFRESHING.
