How should a gaming headset look?
Aesthetic considerations are also worth making. If you’re interested in a headset that you can use in front of other people on a video call or out and about, something a little more low-key is probably a good idea. Oddly enough, a handful of Razer‘s most recent headsets may fit that bill.
What is the most comfy gaming headset?
The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5X and Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) are among the most comfortable, thanks to lightweight builds, plush padding, and breathable materials. If you wear glasses or game for long sessions, these headsets are easy on the head and ears. Just note that comfort can be subjective—clamping force and ear shape can vary from person to person.
Is 7.1 sound better for gaming?
Not always. While 7.1 virtual surround sound can enhance immersion in some games, it’s not inherently better than stereo. A well-tuned stereo headset with good imaging (like the Audeze Maxwell or Drop + EPOS PC38X) often delivers more accurate positional audio. Plus, most games handle spatial sound processing internally now, so the headset doesn’t need to do the heavy lifting.
Hey r/buildapc,
I’m looking for recommendations on gaming headphones for 2025, preferably from Logitech to match my mouse and speakers. My budget is below SGD 200, so I’m hoping to find something affordable yet reliable.
I’m mostly into casual online gaming like GTA RP, so I’m looking for headphones with: • Decent sound quality • Comfortable for long sessions • A good microphone for in-game comms
What would you recommend within this budget? Or are there other brands I should consider for better value?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
Checked pretty much everything there is on the internet, but most posts are too old now. What I need the most is it to be wireless and preferably have Game/Chat mix. I’m planning to use in only for my PC (for PS5 I have been using Astro A50 gen 4 for 5 years, they are still fine, but I want something new and better + I’m tired to take them from my PC to PS5 every time, so I need one dedicated headset only for my PC).
So, out of all headsets here are my picks:
Logitech G Pro X 2 (not sure about the sound, tried them, Cloud 3s sounds better IMO)
Hyper X Cloud 3s (no game/chat mix and 3,5mm unfortunately)
Astor A50X (there is no A50 gen 5 in my country and + I don’t want to have 2 almost the same headsets LOL)
Razer BlackShark v3 pro (not a fan of Razer overall, but noise canceling sounds amazing)
Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (heard that it has connection and cracking sound, same as I have on Arctis 7 back in a day)
I also had Audeze Maxwell and sold them, unbearably HEAVY, but sounded the best out of all BY FAR.
If you have any other recommendations, please, feel free to share.
For now I like Cloud 3s the most, probably. But lack of Game/Chat mix and 3,5 jack is what holds me back.
I also have HD6xx and I love them, but I hate wires when playing.
This is part of my project to tinker with Reddit data and LLMs. Wanted to create something useful for the community while levelling up my coding chops.
The idea is to highlight which gaming headsets got the most love specifically in the context of first person shooters. To be clear, most love =/= best. But hopefully it’s a useful data point nonetheless, especially for those overwhelmed by the options.
Any surprising rankings?
If you want to dig into the raw data, you can do so on the project page (google “RedditRecs”).
You can explore the original comments, filter by price, wireless vs wired, subreddits, comments about durability etc. Disclaimer - the page has some affiliate links. You don’t have to use them. They help fund the analyses though.
Methodology in the comments.
My trusty gaming headset just gave out after years of intense sessions, and I’m in the market for a new one. I dont need pro-level esports gear just something reliable, comfortable, and with great audio and a good mic. Bonus points for wireless connectivity, long battery life, and solid noise isolation.
This post was pretty helpful.

Let’s say under $200, but I’m flexible if something is truly worth the extra cost.
I mostly play FPS, RPGs, and multiplayer games, so sound clarity, comfort, and mic quality matter most to me.
After some research, I’ve narrowed it down to a few popular options:
SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless
HyperX Cloud III Wireless
Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023)
Logitech G Pro X 2 Lightspeed
