Make the bottom strip longer in front and weld a pin to the end to act as a stop. Mount three bearings on each side of the drawer. The back two bearings within about 4" of each other. That will be your extension stop. Lift the drawer up and over the pin to remove. For full extension, you'll need to make a double slider.

I'm have an idea to build these large drawers under my outfeed/assembly table to hold all my long clamps, but I'm running into sticker shock with some of these drawer slide prices. The main issue is the size of the drawer itself: 48 in X 48 in.
I have concerns about using side-mount slides, due to the size, but I can't seem to find bottom mount slides in this size. I am also considering whether I can use aluminum extrusion and some rollers; I saw this from McMaster: https://www.mcmaster.com/products/t-slotted-framing-rollers/t-slotted-framing-slides-tracks-and-rollers/
Anyways, does anyone else have any experience with cheap(er) methods of making very large drawers work? Maybe there's a simpler way to do this.

I'd just slide them on waxed melamine or something similar. 48" draw slides are going to be crazy money.

Just throw some wood runners at the bottom to reduce friction (assuming you have a full panel below the drawer). Paste wax and a couple mm of clearance should have you all set.

I’m a drawer newbie so please excuse my ignorance.
I have a 48”x27” space on the bottom of one side of my work bench. I’d love to do a sliding tray to access the items on the back side without having to roll out the table from the wall. The problem is 48” drawer slides are almost $200. (about as much as I have into the workbench so far for everything else.) Any more economical options, DIY or otherwise? I thought about just waxing some rails and sliding the tray on those but I wonder how it will work with such a large and heavy tray.

You could do a rolling shelf if it is on the bottom. I have seen people put four small casters at the inside corners of the drawer bottom with the majority of the weight on them. Then you can use a cleat/rail between the drawer and cabinet to keep them aligned without binding on you due to needing to support the weight of the cabinet. That is likely the cheapest option as I just checked 1200mm slides from Aliexpress , who knows if they are even worth a damn, and they cost $193. I'd search for 1200mm in addition to 48" when you are looking for them as that may give you more options. (48"=1219.2mm)

A design that pulls out 34" to support boards would have to be pretty heavy duty and is going to be costly. There are a bunch of fold up designs for table saws outfeed support that you might look at If the slide out design is absolutely needed, the only other idea I can think of is to have supports that go all the way to the ground with wheels on them. Basically this idea from Woodsmith but for the outfeed instead of the planer itself. Then, you could use any type of DIY drawer slides you can find.

Looking for a decent set of side mount drawer slides. Not wanting to spend a fortune since this is shop furniture. I’ll need something that will hold around 125-150 lbs. looked around on Amazon but was unsure of the quality so I figured I’d reach out to the experts. Thanks

It's a good idea for shop drawers and I used it for my garage cabinets. Its certainly not the same quality as a drawer slide, but it is functional and much more cost effective. Where do you live? Is there a "big box" lumber store nearby? Those are relatively common so should be fairly easy to locate. Otherwise, what u/pscaled already said, find good brands from knowledgeable woodworkers or cabinet makers and order from their website.
