in the mood for a thrilling ride but want something off the beaten path. Can anyone recommend a lesser-known thriller movie that really keeps you on the edge of your seat? I'm open to any sub-genre within the thriller category – psychological, crime, mystery, you name it.

I've already seen many of the popular ones, so I'm hoping for some hidden gems that might have flown under the radar. Don't worry about the release year; I'm happy to watch older films as long as they deliver that heart-pounding suspense.

Hello. Every time someone here asks for under-the-radar movies you'd get suggestions like Upgrade, Green Room, The Nice Guys or In Bruges. 90% of movies suggested here are in every other thread. I have gone through most classics and well received film pieces. I am looking for something that is rarely spoken about but at the same time good. An objectively well done story. Most of such movies are usually foreign (in this sub) so that's where I have been digging recently and found quite a few surprises that restored my interest in cinema.

Does not have to be "foreign" (which apparently means outside the US) but please let's stick to something that's not 5/10 or below on movie rating sites (yes, there are exceptions, but I do believe in mathematics and statistics usually transfer). As for the genre - thriller, legal dramas, crime, espionage, whistleblowing, politics etc.

Apologies if the overtone is belligerent but hearing that True Romance is unknown boils my blood more than it probably should. Hopefully I and likeminded lurkers can find something new. Cheers.

As it says in the title. I love thriller movies, particularly psychological thriller. Feels like I've watched a lot of the more popular ones.

I'm looking for hidden gems/movies you like that don't get recommended/movies that didn't get very popular but are good/etc.

Bonus if it's from the 80s or 90s, but it can be from any decade.

I'm looking for underrated thriller movies that often fly under the radar but offer an unforgettable cinematic experience. Think along the lines of Saint Maud, The Night House, Titane, and Last Night in Soho which has brilliant visuals, music, and immersive experience.

I'm particularly interested in thrillers that are not widely known but are gems waiting to be discovered. Any recommendations for films that provide an immersive experience with a blend of great visuals, edits, and music would be greatly appreciated!

I'm the kind of person who's "seen everything" so I'm hoping fellow movie nerds can recommend some great thrillers that aren't as talked about.

My tastes are fairly typical -- I like David Lynch, Cronenberg, Villeneuve, PT Anderson, Lanthimos, Kubrick, Hitchcock, Wilder, female directors, film noir...

There are a lot of pre-90s movies I haven't seen, particularly ones by less acclaimed directors, so classic thrillers would be great, but I'm also here for contemporary hidden gems. Thanks!

I have watched most movies frequently recommended on Reddit. I explicitly want only mystery thrillers(including Sci-fi). No action thrillers(bourne, MI etc) or Comedy thrillers(Seven psychos, Nice guys etc). Also no Horror/Supernatural elements. Also no slasher type movies. Era - 1970's and above. Please recommend .Thanks

i also love movies like Hateful eight, no country, Pulp fiction. Tension is built with dialogues. No intense action scenes.

What are some mystery/thriller movies that are not that widely known according to you. Like I heard about "the last of sheila (1972)" After "Knives out (2019)" came out.

Could be a foreign movie or some old movie. Please dont recommend popular movies like David fincher, nolan movies, identity or the invisible guest.

It could really be any genre as long as mystery and thriller is involved. Id also like to say my favorite settings when it comes to these stories are somewhere in space, in a military setting or underwater (I’ve never been huge on the idea of normal underwater shark types of stuff, if possible I’d like some sort of Atlantis type thing or where they explore a structure or a ship underwater) could be horror or not it doesn’t matter as long as it’s thrilling. I’ve never been a big movie guy so the only mystery thriller movies ive watched that I can think of are Pandorum, Seven, bone tomahawk and the abyss and I loved pandorum a lot

Edit: forgot to say that it does NOT have to be specifically underwater or space movies in open to anything

There comes a time when you feel like you’ve watched ALL the good mystery/psychological thrillers. You come on this sub and read through the comments and you’ve seen all of them… nocturnal animals, get out, parasite, knives out etc.

What was a lesser known movie I may not have heard of??? Foreign or not I don’t care I just want to scratch my “edge of your seat” itch and I want to believe I haven’t seen EVERYTHING. make me believe x

My girlfriend and I are looking for mystery movie suggestions. Which are some of your favorites? Looking for movies that keep you on the edge of the seat the whole time and are next to impossible to predict. The only rule is it can’t be a horror movie as my gf doesn’t like horror.
