Nah - you are good. Pick a high rated unit on Consumer Reports you like and buy it. Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowes - they are all selling the same units. Usually are all using the same delivery and install contractors to (XPO Logistics where I live). Just a couple of weeks ago my washer bit the dust - had a new one on its way in an hour and installed 3 days later - all ordered from my couch.

So my apartment complex that I recently moved into less than a month ago didn’t tell me that the washer and dryer they gave me (insignia) that they would be charging me $40 a month for them. To not own them. And I plan on living there for a few years. I told them I’d just give em back, save the $40, and just go by my own.

Now should I go to homedepot to try to get a set financed? I’d like Samsung, Lg, or GE for brands. Big enough for a king size comforter.

Or should I get a set off Facebook marketplace secondhand and hope they don’t break?

I suck at making decisions myself and like getting numerous opinions.

I feel like I'd look on marketplace for a recent-ish top-load washer, basic AF washer and dryer set, ones with analog controls. I'm assuming electric dryer? Otherwise you shouldn't be doing gas work yourself. The basic analog nature of these means fewer possible points of failure. $400 or less per set all day long where I am. And maybe get a $5.00 leak detector/water alarm and put it behind the washer. Last thing you want is a giant repair bill from the landlord if it leaks.

Samsung and GE are garbage for washing machines. In most other appliance types LG is also garbage, but their washers and dryers are actually petty solid. They are the best thing you can get new if you aren't willing to go with Speed Queen due to the smaller tub size. If you want something good that is used and has a larger capacity but not quite as big as say an LG with an impeller, look for an older used Maytag Commercial Extra Capacity, pre-Whirlpool buyout. They can fit a king size comforter and are better than anything new you will buy. If you buy new an LG is probably the way to go. If you want a top-loader you can get their 7400 washer for ~$750 new on sale or ~$550-600 at an open box retailer. It has a ridiculously large 5.5 cu ft capacity and low service call %. The drive train has 10 yrs of parts-only warranty on it.
